The Security Room door code in Poppy Playtime Chapter 1 is a color sequence, not a number. Enter the keypad colors in this order: Green → Pink → Yellow → Red.
How to open the Security Room door
- In the Main Lobby, enter the Gift Shop on the right side of the reception area.
- Look up at the moving toy train near the ceiling.
- Read the train cars in order: Green, Pink, Yellow, Red.
- Return to the Security Room door in the Main Lobby.
- Activate the keypad and press the four colored buttons in that exact order.
The door leads to the Security Room and the GrabPack tutorial sequence. The room is required for progression in Chapter 1: A Tight Squeeze. You can find the game’s Chapter 1 listing on Steam.

When the keypad displays “TO INTERACT,” use the default platform control:

These are default mappings. If you remapped your controls, follow the interaction prompt shown by your version of the game.

What happens inside the Security Room?
Use the Blue VHS Tape with the VCR. The training video explains the GrabPack controls, after which the Blue Hand becomes available. Versions that include the VHS update also provide a Skip option; skipping the tape still opens the GrabPack case and allows you to continue.

- Check the order: the sequence must be Green, Pink, Yellow, Red. Having the right four colors in a different order is not enough.
- Do not enter numbers: this keypad has no numeric code. Claims that the answer is “4291” do not apply to the Chapter 1 Security Room.
- Use the Gift Shop train: this is not the separate train-code puzzle from Chapter 2, Fly in a Web.
- Try the interaction again: activate the keypad and press each color deliberately.
- Recover from a glitch: an official Chapter 1 update fixed an issue where the correct sequence could play the lock sound without opening the door. If the sequence still fails in a current installation, restart from the latest checkpoint or relaunch the chapter. The June 20, 2023 update details are available in the SteamDB patch notes.
The playable clue is the colored train in the Gift Shop—not a whiteboard—and the verified solution remains Green → Pink → Yellow → Red. Additional chapters are separate DLC rather than part of the base Chapter 1 experience; see the Steam store listing for the current release structure.
