Start with the exact error message or code and the device you’re using—Windows, Mac, iOS, or Android. A YouTube permission error needs a different fix from a bad stream key or an unstable connection. Work through the matching section below rather than changing network settings at random.
First, identify where the failure happens
Note whether PRISM never starts the broadcast or connects and then disconnects. Also record the full on-screen message and any error code. The main causes fall into four groups: YouTube channel eligibility, an expired login or incomplete stream setup, an incorrect stream URL or key, and a connection problem.
- Permission or eligibility message: check YouTube channel status.
- Login expired or mobile connection error: refresh the linked account or confirm that a YouTube stream was created and saved.
- Key or channel-access error: verify the server URL and stream key.
- Failed to connect or disconnected: troubleshoot the network, with the specific error code and platform in mind.
PRISM’s support guides cover desktop Windows/Mac and mobile separately, so use the platform-specific instructions below.
Fix YouTube permission and eligibility errors
Check the channel’s live-streaming status
- Open YouTube Studio and go to Settings > Channel > Feature eligibility.
- Check whether live streaming is enabled and whether YouTube shows a restriction or pending activation.
- If the channel is restricted, resolve the issue through YouTube; changing PRISM’s network settings will not remove a channel restriction.
YouTube’s current general guidance says creators need a verified channel and no live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days. PRISM documents desktop errors 28005 and 28006 for disabled or still-processing YouTube live-streaming permissions. Its guide says activation can take up to 24 hours after verification or application; that is a possible wait window, not a guaranteed completion time. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance and PRISM’s permission-error steps.

Fix mobile YouTube stream-creation and login errors
“Unable to stream via YouTube due to a connection error”
This message can appear when YouTube stream creation did not finish. The stream may be missing from YouTube if its details were not saved before the create-stream dialog was closed.
- On iOS: open PRISM’s My Page, go to Settings, and choose Recover YouTube livestream.
- Complete the recovery flow in YouTube Live Control Room and save the stream details.
- On Android: open YouTube Live Control Room in a desktop browser to check or complete the stream setup; PRISM documents no equivalent in-app recovery option for Android.
Follow PRISM’s mobile YouTube error guide if the message or flow differs.

“Your login session has expired, so the broadcast cannot be started”
Sign in again to the YouTube account linked in PRISM, then try starting the broadcast. PRISM’s YouTube API access depends on that login session. See PRISM’s expired-login instructions.
Check the stream URL and key
If PRISM reports a stream-key or channel-access problem, compare the stream URL and key in PRISM with the current values shown by the streaming platform. Copy them exactly and remove any accidental spaces. PRISM gives rtmp://a.rtmp.youtube.com/live2 as a YouTube server URL example, but verify YouTube’s current value rather than assuming the example applies to every setup.

Fix desktop connection errors
“Failed to connect to the server” (error 57998)
PRISM associates this desktop YouTube RTMP error in some cases with IPv6-transition or ISP infrastructure conditions. Its advisory specifically recommends an IPv4 test for users in India and Indonesia:

- In PRISM’s network settings, set IP Family to IPv4 Only.
- Enable network optimizations.
- Restart PRISM and try again.
This is a targeted diagnostic, not a universal fix. PRISM notes that IPv4 may help where IPv6 is unstable; do not assume it applies to every location or connection. See the 57998 troubleshooting guide.
“Disconnected from server” (error 57995)
A stream that starts and later drops points toward connection continuity. PRISM lists local network instability, insufficient upload speed, weak Wi-Fi, and firewall or security software interference as possible causes.

- Try connecting the computer to the router by wired LAN instead of Wi-Fi. PRISM recommends a wired connection for consistent data transmission.
- Check whether upload capacity is adequate for the stream you are sending, and whether other network activity is affecting the connection.
- Check whether firewall or security software is blocking PRISM’s connection; change security settings only as needed and in line with your network’s policies.
- Retry the stream and see whether it remains connected.
If your computer and router support it, an Ethernet cable is an optional way to test a wired connection. It will not fix a YouTube permission, login, missing-stream, or key problem. See PRISM’s 57995 disconnection guide.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Handle mobile connection failures by cause
PRISM’s mobile guide identifies several possible causes of “streaming is not working”: inadequate bandwidth, an invalid or nonexistent RTMP address, a connection problem between the streaming engine and platform, or restricted live-streaming rights. Check the account, address, and network separately instead of treating every failure as the same issue.
After a lost connection lasting more than 10 minutes, PRISM documents Android error 5007 and iOS errors -1001/-1. Use the current message in your app to choose the relevant account or connection check; these codes do not establish that every mobile failure has one cause. See PRISM’s mobile streaming troubleshooting guide.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is to keep uploaded videos looping as a YouTube live stream, StreamNeo is a separate cloud option—not a repair for PRISM’s camera-based live broadcast. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. The cloud keeps the stream running without leaving a computer or home connection on.
