Project_Lamordia is a short, digital Dungeons & Dragons adventure on D&D Beyond that turns Ravenloft’s Lamordia into a modern techno-horror nightmare. Its Mordenheim Kinetics laboratory replaces castles and medieval villages with corporate offices, damaged research spaces, terminals and futuristic corridors, while killer machines and failed experiments force players to prioritize survival over heroic victory. The format—three compact scenarios intended to fit into one sitting—makes it an unusually practical Halloween one-shot.
What Project_Lamordia is
Project_Lamordia combines a present-day setting guide with three short adventures set inside Mordenheim Kinetics, a high-tech company whose experiments have gone catastrophically wrong. D&D Beyond’s official description calls it “a modernistic AI-gone-wrong nightmare” in a facility filled with mechanistic terrors and failed experiments. The result is still D&D at the table, but its vocabulary is corporate espionage, security systems, ruined offices, implanted memories and malfunctioning technology rather than taverns, kingdoms and conventional dungeon rooms.

GamesRadar+’s October 15, 2026 report describes the atmosphere as a blend of Resident Evil and Control. That comparison refers to the structure and mood—an isolated facility, escalating technological threats, disorienting revelations and a constant need to find a way out—not to a licensed crossover or shared setting.

Fragile characters make escape matter
The adventure encourages groups to use Survivor characters with very low health and limited abilities. These protagonists are not built like experienced adventurers who can absorb several encounters and recover afterward. A fight with a machine or failed experiment can become a serious resource problem, so avoiding danger, barricading doors, searching for information and choosing when to run are central decisions.

The threat is mechanical and systemic
Project_Lamordia’s dangers come from AI failures, mechanistic creatures and experiments that have escaped their intended limits. Terminals, damaged infrastructure and implanted memories support an investigation in which the environment itself supplies clues and complications. The setting can feel closer to a survival-horror videogame or a paranoid science-fiction thriller than to a supernatural monster hunt.
Short scenarios suit a single night
All three adventures are designed as bite-sized one-shots. GamesRadar+ says they can feasibly be completed in one sitting, an important distinction for a Halloween session where a group may have only one evening and does not want to commit to a full campaign arc.

How Lamordia connects to Ravenloft
Lamordia is one of Ravenloft’s Domains of Dread, with its identity rooted in Frankenstein-inspired science and the work of Viktra Mordenheim. Project_Lamordia keeps that foundation while relocating the terror to a modern corporate laboratory. The Mordenheim name and the focus on experimentation provide continuity with the setting’s horror tradition; the computers, offices and artificial intelligence provide the new lens.
For a physical companion, Ravenloft: The Horrors Within is the relevant D&D horror sourcebook. Official D&D support lists Amazon, D&D Beyond and local game stores as places to obtain it. That book is not required to understand the digital adventure’s premise, but it gives groups a broader physical Ravenloft reference for a horror-focused game night.

How to run it as a Halloween one-shot
- Set expectations before character creation. Tell players that Survivors are vulnerable and that retreat, investigation and cooperation matter more than winning every fight.
- Use a modern visual language. Describe access terminals, emergency lighting, corporate rooms, sealed corridors and damaged equipment so the facility feels distinct from a reskinned fantasy dungeon.
- Protect the pacing. Because each scenario is short, keep searches purposeful and make clues point toward the next decision rather than opening a long side quest.
- Make information dangerous. Implanted memories and AI failures work best when discoveries change what the characters believe about the facility or their own situation.
- Plan for an ending in one session. Track time, give the group clear escape objectives and avoid adding encounters that do not increase the tension or reveal the mystery.
How intense is the horror?
The premise and presentation support a strong survival-horror mood, especially for players who enjoy laboratories, hostile machines and reality-bending revelations. GamesRadar+ praised the atmosphere but judged the adventures less intense than dedicated horror games such as Alien RPG Evolved Edition. That is a reviewer’s assessment, not an objective rating: groups wanting relentless, highly specialized horror may find Project_Lamordia lighter, while D&D players seeking a manageable Halloween experiment may prefer its shorter, familiar rules framework.
