The PlayStation Plus Monthly Games announced for January 2026 were Need for Speed Unbound, Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed and Core Keeper. Sony said they would become available on January 6, 2026; that redemption window has passed. Sony’s separate announcement that PS4 games would be added only intermittently from January 2026 is a policy change, not evidence that one of these January games was removed or disrupted.
What were the PS Plus January 2026 Monthly Games?
Sony announced three Monthly Games: Need for Speed Unbound, Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed and Core Keeper. The announcement set January 6, 2026 as the start of availability. Read Sony’s January Monthly Games announcement.

Because the January availability period is historical, these titles should not be described as currently redeemable Monthly Games. The announcement also cautioned that the Game Catalog lineup may differ by region.
Did the January lineup take an “early hit”?
The official information cited here does not substantiate a specific January lineup loss, cancellation or disruption. Sony’s service page says, “From January 2026, PS4 games will be added only intermittently.” That describes a change in the frequency of future PS4 additions; it does not say that any of the three announced January Monthly Games was pulled or otherwise affected.

Without a source identifying a particular event, “takes early hit” overstates what is established. The confirmed story is the three-game lineup alongside Sony’s broader PS4 addition-policy change.
Monthly Games are different from the Game Catalog
PlayStation lists Monthly Games as an Essential benefit. The Game Catalog is included with Extra and Premium, while Premium also includes the Classics Catalog and game trials. The January Monthly Games announcement should not be confused with a separate monthly Game Catalog update.

| Benefit | Membership tier stated by PlayStation | Access model |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly Games | Essential | Add games to your library and play while your membership is active. |
| Game Catalog | Extra and Premium | Access catalog titles while available; some titles have an end date. |
| Classics Catalog and game trials | Premium | Additional Premium benefits. |
PlayStation notes that game libraries vary over time and by plan. For current membership details and the local game list, check the PlayStation Plus games page.
What the PS4 policy change means
Sony’s statement that PS4 games would be added only intermittently starting in January 2026 is relevant context for subscribers who play on PS4: the service no longer promises regular PS4 additions. The wording does not say PS4 games will stop appearing altogether, nor does it establish a specific PS4-related change to the January Monthly Games. The available announcement does not provide a complete platform-by-platform breakdown for the three titles.

Regional availability and claiming games
PlayStation says availability can vary by country or region and directs members to their local PlayStation Plus hub for the current list. Monthly Games can be added to a library and played while membership remains active; catalog access is governed by the relevant tier and whether a title remains in the catalog. These are different access arrangements, so a past Monthly Games window should not be treated as continuing catalog availability.
