The headline claim that Sony added nine games and removed 12 from PS Plus Extra and Premium is not verified by the available official information. Sony’s US October page, checked October 8, 2026, does not show a nine-game additions list. Separate September reports name eight games scheduled to leave the catalog on October 20—not 12—and their count conflicts with one report’s own headline.
Are nine games being added to PS Plus Extra and Premium?
The nine-game addition roster is not confirmed by Sony’s reviewed October PlayStation Plus page. The page describes Game Catalog arrivals for Extra and Premium and features Helldivers 2, but it does not provide a nine-title October roster matching the headline. It also includes September-dated additions in its browse area, which should not be mistaken for October arrivals.

That means the available information does not establish which nine games, if any, are being added in October. Sony’s visible mention of Helldivers 2 is not evidence of a complete nine-game list, and the listed September titles cannot fill that gap.
Which games are reported to leave PS Plus on October 20?
September reports list the following eight catalog games as scheduled to leave on October 20, 2026. The list is reported rather than confirmed by an official Sony departure notice:

The count is inconsistent across the reports: Push Square’s headline says seven, but its article lists eight; PlayStation LifeStyle also lists eight and notes that availability can vary by region. Neither report supports 12 departures. Check the current PlayStation Store listing for your region, since catalog availability may differ or change.
What happens when a PS Plus catalog game leaves?
Sony’s PlayStation Plus FAQ says some games have an end date when they will be removed from the service. Game Catalog access is a membership benefit, so a game leaving the catalog ends that access. Push Square reports that continuing to play a departing game requires buying it; the cited reports do not establish any other access arrangement.

Which PS Plus tier includes the Game Catalog?
Sony describes three PlayStation Plus tiers: Essential, Extra, and Premium. Extra includes Game Catalog access, while Premium includes that catalog and adds Classics Catalog, Game Trials, and cloud streaming in select markets. Sony describes the Extra catalog as containing hundreds of games; that is a general service description, not a count of this month’s arrivals. See Sony’s US PlayStation Plus overview for the current tier details.
Essential is centered on monthly games and other core benefits; it does not include the Extra Game Catalog. Premium’s cloud streaming availability depends on market. Tier features and catalog availability are distinct from whether a particular title is currently included.

How to check the catalog and a game’s end date
- Open PlayStation Plus or the PlayStation Store on your console or through Sony’s regional PlayStation website.
- Browse the Game Catalog while signed in to the account whose membership you use.
- Check the individual game’s listing for availability and any displayed removal date. If a game is absent or the date differs from a report, treat the current regional listing as the relevant availability information.
