Short answer: “PS5 Pro Enhanced” is Sony’s designation for games that have features or tuning associated with the PS5 Pro. It does not promise one resolution, frame-rate target, or graphics mode for every game carrying the label. To find the current selection, open PlayStation Store > Collections > PS5 Pro Enhanced on your console, or search the Store for PS5 Pro. Then read each game’s own description for the actual display modes and features.
What “PS5 Pro Enhanced” actually tells you
The label identifies a game as part of Sony’s PS5 Pro enhancement program. In practical terms, the developer has associated the title with improvements that take advantage of PS5 Pro hardware. The designation is useful for discovering compatible software, but it is deliberately broad: Sony does not define one mandatory resolution, frame rate, or visual feature that every enhanced game must provide.

Sony’s November 2024 PS5 Pro launch announcement described several possible forms of enhancement. A game might use more advanced ray tracing, PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR), or a higher frame-rate target such as 60Hz or 120Hz when the connected television supports the required output. Those are examples of the technologies and modes a developer may use, not a checklist that applies identically to every title.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsEnhancements are game-specific
Two games with the same badge can make different trade-offs. One may use extra ray-tracing effects while maintaining a performance-oriented mode; another may use PSSR to produce a sharper image from a lower internal render resolution; a third may offer a choice between visual quality and frame-rate modes. The Store badge tells you to investigate the title, not which of those implementations you will get.

The television still matters
Sony’s launch material mentions 60Hz and 120Hz output “depending on the TV.” A display that cannot accept a particular refresh rate cannot show that mode, even when the game and console support it. Treat the television requirement as part of the specification and check the game’s Store description before assuming that a 120Hz mode will be available in your setup.
How to find the current PS5 Pro Enhanced collection
Sony’s support instructions point to the live PlayStation Store collection as the authoritative way to discover supported titles. The collection can change as games are added or as Store information is updated, so an old launch list should not be treated as a permanent catalogue.
Find the collection on a PS5 Pro console
- From the PS5 Pro home screen, open PlayStation Store.
- Open the Collections tab.
- Select the PS5 Pro Enhanced banner.
- Open an individual game page and read its description for the title-specific enhancement details, available modes, and display notes.
The exact wording and artwork of Store pages can change, but the Collections path is the route Sony documents for browsing the group.
Use Store search when the banner is not immediately visible
PlayStation support also recommends searching the Store for PS5 Pro. Search results can be useful when you are looking for one game rather than browsing the whole collection. Open the game’s full product page after searching; a result-card label alone usually contains less information than the detailed description.
Why a web search result is not a reliable count
The official Store category is named “PS5 Pro Enhanced Games,” but the collection is dynamic. A page snapshot or third-party list can omit later additions, delistings, regional differences, or updated descriptions. Use the live collection on your console or the current PlayStation Store page for membership and title-level information. Sony’s launch announcement is valuable historical context, not a current total.
How to read an enhanced game’s Store page
Once you open a title, look for concrete statements rather than inferring capability from the badge. The following comparison points tell you what the PS5 Pro version is intended to change.
| Store detail to check | What it answers | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Resolution or image-quality description | Does the game target a particular output or use reconstruction? | A sharper-looking image can come from a higher native render, PSSR, or another reconstruction method; the badge itself does not distinguish them. |
| Frame-rate target | Is the mode designed for 30, 60, or 120 frames per second? | Higher frame rates require a compatible display and may involve a visual-quality trade-off chosen by the developer. |
| Ray-tracing features | Are reflections, shadows, lighting, or other effects upgraded? | Ray tracing can improve realism while changing the performance balance. |
| Performance and quality modes | Can you choose between visual effects and responsiveness? | The best choice depends on whether you prefer image detail, steadier motion, or a particular display. |
| Display or refresh-rate notes | What television capabilities are required? | A mode listed by the developer may be unavailable if your display cannot accept its resolution or refresh rate. |
General Sony documentation identifies these as possible categories, but it does not publish a universal side-by-side specification for every enhanced title. For an accurate comparison, use the game-specific Store text or information supplied by that game’s developer.

Does PS5 Pro Enhanced mean 8K?
No. Sony’s PS5 Pro compatibility guide says that the console can support up to 8K in select games. That qualification is important: the platform capability does not mean that every game in the PS5 Pro Enhanced collection renders at 8K, outputs 8K, or offers an 8K mode.
When 8K matters to you, look for an explicit statement on the individual game page or in the developer’s technical notes. Do not infer 8K support from the collection banner, from the PS5 Pro name, or from a television’s own 8K specification. The game, console settings, and display must all support the particular output path.
PS5 Pro Enhanced is not the same as the PS4 image-quality setting
PS5 Pro has a separate option called Enhance Image Quality for PS4 Games. It is easy to confuse that setting with the Store’s PS5 Pro Enhanced designation, but they serve different purposes. The Store collection identifies supported titles; the setting applies image processing to PS4 games running on specific PS5 Pro hardware.
Where to find the PS4 option
- Open Settings on the console.
- Select Screen and Video.
- Open Video Output.
- Locate Enhance Image Quality for PS4 Games and change the setting as needed.
Requirements and Sony’s warning
- The option is available only for PS4 games played on consoles in the CFI-7000 model group.
- The display must support 2160p or 1440p output at 60Hz.
- Sony advises turning the setting off if you notice unexpected gameplay behavior.
This option does not add a PS5 Pro Enhanced badge to a game and does not turn a PS4 title into a member of the PS5 Pro Enhanced collection. Keep the setting’s hardware and display requirements separate from the Store-browsing instructions.

What Sony’s launch list can—and cannot—tell you
On November 4, 2024, Sony Interactive Entertainment published a launch announcement for the PS5 Pro, whose launch date was November 7, 2024. It described a sample of more than 50 games with PS5 Pro enhancements and said that many more would follow. That number describes the launch-era sample; it is not Sony’s current catalogue count.
“This list is a sample of more than 50 games boasting PS5 Pro enhancements at launch, with many more to follow.”
The announcement named Alan Wake 2, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, among others. These examples establish that those games were part of Sony’s launch-era enhanced sample. They do not establish that every current Store entry has the same feature set or that the launch list remains complete.

- Miles morales discovers explosive powers that set him apart from his mentor, peter parker. Master his unique, bio-electric venom Blast attacks and covert camouflage power alongside spectacular web-slinging acrobatics, gadgets and skills.

- Identify the target display. Note whether your television accepts 4K, 8K, 60Hz, or 120Hz input. This defines which advertised modes you can actually use.
- Check the resolution language. Distinguish an explicit output resolution from a statement about internal rendering or image reconstruction. PSSR or another reconstruction technique can improve clarity without meaning that the game renders every pixel natively.
- Check the frame-rate target. Look for a stated 30, 60, or 120 frames-per-second mode and any display qualification. Do not convert a 60Hz or 120Hz output description into a universal performance guarantee.
- List ray-tracing changes. Note which effects are mentioned—such as reflections, lighting, or shadows—and whether they are tied to a particular quality mode.
- Record mode choices. If the game offers quality, performance, or a combined mode, write down what each mode prioritizes. A mode with more effects may run at a different frame-rate target than a performance mode.
- Check the date of the information. Store descriptions and developer notes can be revised. Use the current listing when making a purchase or reinstall decision.

| Selectable quality/performance modes | Note each mode’s priority | Note each mode’s priority |
| 8K statement | Write “not stated” unless the title explicitly claims support | Write “not stated” unless the title explicitly claims support |
This method prevents the most common comparison error: treating the program label as if it were a complete technical specification.
Common misunderstandings and how to avoid them
“Every enhanced game is 4K or 8K.”
The designation does not establish a fixed resolution. Sony’s compatibility guide limits the 8K statement to select games, and individual titles may use reconstruction or different modes. Read the title-level details.
“The badge guarantees 120 fps.”
It does not. Sony lists 60Hz or 120Hz as possible outcomes that depend on the game and television. A title may target a lower frame rate in its highest-quality mode or may not offer a 120Hz mode at all.
“A launch list is the complete current list.”
The November 2024 “more than 50” figure was explicitly a sample. New games and updates can change the collection, so use the current Store collection when checking support.

“Enhance Image Quality for PS4 Games makes any PS4 game a PS5 Pro Enhanced title.”
The PS4 image-quality option is a separate console feature with its own model and display requirements. It does not replace the Store’s PS5 Pro Enhanced collection.
“If the game is listed, my television will show every advertised mode.”
Display compatibility remains a condition for modes tied to 60Hz, 120Hz, or a particular resolution. Verify your television’s supported input before expecting a specific output.
Quick checklist before you buy or install
- Open the live PlayStation Store collection rather than relying on an old list.
- Confirm the exact game edition and platform listed on the product page.
- Read the enhancement description for resolution, reconstruction, ray tracing, and frame-rate information.
- Match those requirements with your television’s supported resolution and refresh rate.
- Treat 8K as a title-specific possibility, not a consequence of the badge.
- Keep the PS4 image-quality setting separate and check its CFI-7000 and 2160p/1440p-at-60Hz requirements.
- If the Store banner is hard to locate, search for “PS5 Pro” and open the full game page.
The reliable workflow is therefore simple: use Sony’s live PS5 Pro Enhanced collection to discover games, then use each game’s own technical description to learn what the enhancement does on your display. The badge answers “is this associated with PS5 Pro improvements?”—the title page answers “which improvements, in which mode, and under what display conditions?”
