Sony calls the feature “upgraded PSSR” or “new PSSR,” rather than “PSSR 2.” As of October 8, 2026, official PlayStation announcements confirm the games below, but do not establish a complete, maintained list of every compatible title. The list is therefore a verified selection, not an exhaustive roster.
What upgraded PSSR does
PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) is Sony’s image-upscaling technology for PS5 Pro. Sony describes it as an AI library that analyzes game images pixel by pixel as it reconstructs them at a higher resolution. In its February 2026 announcement, Sony said the upgraded version uses a different neural-network approach and overall algorithm. Sony later described the newer reconstruction as more precise, with improved motion stability and more flexibility for developers to balance image quality and performance. These are Sony’s descriptions, not standardized independent benchmark results. Sony’s February 27 announcement and March 16 system update post explain the changes.

Sony said the original PSSR had been used to boost effective resolution in more than 50 PS5 Pro games as of February 27, 2026. That figure refers to original PSSR, not the number of games confirmed for the upgraded version.

How to try the newer PSSR on PS5 Pro
Sony offers an optional system-level setting called “Enhance PSSR Image Quality.” It can be tried with PS5 Pro games that already support PSSR; it does not add PSSR support to every PS5 Pro game. Sony says results vary by title and recommends turning the setting off if unexpected visual effects appear. Sony’s system update announcement describes the option.
- On PS5 Pro, open Settings.
- Choose Screen and Video.
- Open Video Output.
- Turn on Enhance PSSR Image Quality to try the feature in games that already support PSSR. Turn it off if a game shows unexpected visual effects.
Some titles also implement upgraded PSSR through a game release or update. Install the game’s available update where applicable; the system option and a game-specific update are related but not interchangeable routes to support.

What to expect from game to game
There are no standardized, comparable benchmark figures across the titles listed here. Developers have described improvements in image clarity, detail in motion, or temporal stability, but those are title-specific claims rather than a shared performance measure. For example, Embark’s engine lead Robert Kihl said the change particularly helped image quality in Arc Raiders scenes with many small details in motion. Hypergryph CTO David Gu described improved clarity and temporal stability in Arknights: Endfield. Neither statement establishes a quantified improvement applicable to other games.
