Isabelle Tomatis, Sony Interactive Entertainment’s Vice President of Global Marketing, attributed the decision to “continued pressures in the global economic landscape.” She said that after careful evaluation, Sony found the change necessary to continue delivering innovative, high-quality gaming experiences. Sony did not provide a detailed cost breakdown or quantify the relative impact of particular pressures in its announcement.

What to check before buying
- Match the price to your country and the exact product configuration; the Digital Edition is listed separately from the standard PS5.
- Treat Sony’s figures as recommended retail prices. A retailer’s current price, stock, or discount may differ; the announcements do not establish live offers.
- For territories not covered by the listed prices, Sony advises checking local retailers or direct.playstation.com where available.
These changes are distinct from Sony’s April 2025 increases in selected markets in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. That earlier announcement said PS5 Pro prices were unchanged at the time and also reduced the Disc Drive price in those regions. See Sony’s April 2025 regional announcement.
