PlayStation’s February 12, 2025 State of Play delivered its clearest headline with Saros, a new PS5 game from Returnal developer Housemarque. The broadcast also put dates on several anticipated games, showed new gameplay for established series and included PlayStation Plus catalog news. These are the standout announcements—not an objective ranking, since no audience poll or comparative viewership figures establish which trailer was “best.”
What was the February 2025 State of Play?
The broadcast took place on February 12, 2025. PlayStation advertised it as a “40+ minute show” streamed on YouTube and Twitch in English and Japanese; that was the preview’s runtime description, not a separately measured duration. The official event recap is a trailer-by-trailer record of the announcements.
The showcase combined new game reveals, gameplay updates, release dates, a remaster, and subscription-catalog news. In the selections below, “standout” reflects what each announcement added—such as a new reveal, a firm date, or substantial new details—not a measured popularity ranking.
The biggest reveal: Saros
Housemarque announced Saros, a new PS5 action game set on the lost off-world colony Carcosa under an eclipse. The February 2025 announcement named Arjun Devraj as its protagonist and gave 2026 as the launch timeframe. PlayStation also said an extended gameplay look was planned for later that year. That 2026 window is what the event announced at the time, not a statement of the game’s current schedule.
#1 Best Overall
- TRIFORCE TITANIUM 50 MM DRIVERS — Our cutting-edge proprietary design divides the driver into 3 parts for the individual tuning of highs, mids, and lows—producing brighter, clearer audio with richer highs and more powerful lows
- HYPERCLEAR CARDIOID MIC — An improved pickup pattern ensures more voice and less noise as it tapers off towards the mic’s back and sides, with the sweet spot easily placed at the mouth because of the mic’s bendable design
- ADVANCED PASSIVE NOISE CANCELLATION — Sturdy closed earcups fully cover the ears to prevent noise from leaking into the headset, with its cushions providing a closer seal for more sound isolation
- LIGHTWEIGHT DESIGN WITH MEMORY FOAM EAR CUSHIONS — At just 240 g, the headset features thicker headband padding and memory foam ear cushions with leatherette to keep gaming in peak form during grueling tournaments and training sessions
- VOLUME WHEEL — Its on-headset control makes it convenient to adjust audio levels without having to fiddle with any system or program settings
Saros is the showcase’s most substantial new-game reveal: it introduced a new Housemarque project, a setting and protagonist, and a broad launch window. It was less specific than the games that received exact calendar dates.
Release dates and launch-window announcements
Several trailers supplied concrete dates, making this the most immediately useful part of the showcase for players tracking upcoming releases. Dates below are the announcements made during the February 12, 2025 broadcast; they are not claims about present-day availability.

| Saros | 2026 | PS5 | New Housemarque reveal with a launch year, rather than an exact date. |
| Onimusha: Way of the Sword | 2026 | PS5 | New gameplay and the announcement that Toshiro Mifune would be the face model for Miyamoto Musashi. |
The platform column reflects what the official recap stated for each title; where it did not specify platforms in the announcement details, the table says so rather than inferring them.

Trailers with notable gameplay or series details
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater

Onimusha: Way of the Sword and Onimusha 2
Capcom showed new gameplay from Onimusha: Way of the Sword, planned for PS5 in 2026, and revealed Toshiro Mifune as the face model for protagonist Miyamoto Musashi. Together, the announcements covered both a new entry and a return to an earlier game.
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds
Sega showed the first gameplay for its PS5 and PS4 racer. The footage introduced Travel Rings and a Gadget feature described as perk-like, giving the trailer more to share than a simple confirmation that another Sonic racing game was in development.

Other new reveals and games to keep on the list
Tides of Annihilation
Eclipse Glow Studio revealed a single-player action adventure set in a shattered, mystical London. The announcement introduced protagonist Gwendolyn and spectral knights, making it another new game reveal rather than an update to an established release.

The dates were useful planning details, while the recap’s brief descriptions do not support a deeper comparison of their gameplay.

The named games were Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, Top Spin 2K25, and Lost Records: Bloom & Rage – Tape 1. This was catalog news, not a new-game reveal; the event recap does not establish current catalog availability.
Which trailer was the best?
For a new reveal, Saros is the strongest pick: it introduced a new Housemarque game and gave viewers a world, protagonist, platform, and launch timeframe. For the most concrete fan-facing update, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater stands out because its trailer combined a firm date with new in-game footage and a returning minigame. For a near-term release announcement, The Midnight Walk paired gameplay with a May date, while Lost Soul Aside specified both a date and PS5/PC platforms.
Those are editorial judgments based on the kind of information each announcement provided—newness, specificity, and the promised release window. PlayStation’s official recap records what was shown, but no sourced audience poll or comparative viewership statistic establishes a definitive best trailer.
Where to watch the trailers
PlayStation’s official February 12 recap links to the trailers and related posts. The event preview said the livestream would be on YouTube and Twitch. That confirms where the show was broadcast, but not that every trailer remains available at a particular current URL.
