The patch notes were published on March 11, 2020; PUBG revised the M249 and DBS loot plan on March 13, and announced the update was live on March 18. The mechanics below describe Update 6.3 as released in 2020, not the current game rules.
How the Panzerfaust worked in Update 6.3
The Panzerfaust was a Karakin-exclusive weapon. PUBG described it as an uncommon world spawn and said it was guaranteed in every airdrop. It used a primary weapon slot and could be fired only once: after firing, the tube was discarded and could not be picked up again.
Blast, range and wall damage
The warhead exploded on impact, with a 6-meter damage radius. It could also detonate in midair if a bullet or explosion damaged it. Splash damage could pass through thin walls and objects for a short distance, and the weapon could breach specific Karakin walls, much like the Sticky Bomb.
The projectile could be dodged by an attentive player, as PUBG put it in the patch notes. The launcher offered zeroing at 60, 100 (the default) and 150 meters.

Firing created a backblast danger zone extending 3 meters behind the launcher. It could hurt nearby teammates and pose a risk when firing close to a wall, so the space behind the weapon mattered as much as the target area.

What changed for the Tommy Gun, M249 and UMP-45

The figures and changes in this table are the Update 6.3 patch-note values, not claims about later versions of PUBG.
The M249 and DBS loot plan changed before release
PUBG’s March 11 notes initially described the M249 as uncommon normal loot and the DBS as rare ground loot, both on all maps. On March 13, PUBG revised the plan after community feedback: both weapons would be uncommon ground loot on all maps, and the DBS would also leave Care Packages. The March 18 live announcement confirmed that the M249 and DBS had moved out of Care Packages into normal loot.

For the plan that ultimately shipped, the M249 and DBS were uncommon ground loot across maps; the earlier DBS rarity description was superseded.

Other features and fixes in Update 6.3
- Ground items received an improved glow and pulse effect, with an optional setting to disable the pulse.
- A static sound cue was added for a nearby Blue Zone.
- Push to Talk became available in the main-menu lobby.
- In Team Deathmatch, invincibility ended immediately when a player engaged in combat.
- PUBG reported optimizations intended to reduce FPS stuttering on certain hardware configurations.
Why Update 6.3 is historical context, not a current mechanics guide
PUBG’s Update 38.1 notes, dated October 14, 2025, record later Panzerfaust changes. They say a player wielding it cannot sprint, jump or vault; vehicle occupants take 20% less damage from a Panzerfaust hit, except for backblast damage; its sight-deployment sound is louder; and its trunk weight changed from 100 to 130. Those details belong to Update 38.1, not Update 6.3.
