“Pulse Racer” refers to two different racing games: Jaleco’s legacy Xbox release and a separate low-poly project by Clark that is still in development. They are not versions of the same game. This guide distinguishes them so you can identify the one you mean, check its status, and find the right way to play.
Which Pulse Racer do you mean?
| Title match | Developer or publisher | Platform and status | How to find it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pulse Racer (Xbox) | Jaleco | Original Xbox game; GameSpot records a first release date of January 2, 2003. | Look for a used physical Xbox copy; current stock varies. |
| Pulse Racer by Clark | Clark, solo developer | In-development sim-cade project; its itch.io page describes an early public alpha demo for browser/WebGL and Windows. | Check the creator’s itch.io page for current demo details and availability. |
The distinction matters: the Xbox game and Clark’s project have different creators, platforms, development status, and acquisition routes. The ESRB listing identifies Jaleco’s Xbox title, while the itch.io listing describes Clark’s separate project.

Jaleco’s Pulse Racer on Xbox
The ESRB lists Jaleco’s Pulse Racer for Xbox as Everyone, with Mild Language and Mild Violence. This rating is for the Xbox game, not Clark’s project.
Contemporary coverage published November 26, 2002 described it as futuristic combat racing with player-controlled vehicles, split-screen play for up to four players, and a track-customization feature called INFINITRAX. Producer Quincy Roach said, “We really simplified the process of operating the track customization feature.” Read the contemporary announcement.
#1 Best Overall
GameSpot’s database records January 2, 2003 as the game’s first release date and classifies it as an Xbox arcade/driving-racing game. That date is a database record; it does not indicate that the game is currently available on a modern platform. GameSpot’s listing.
Finding a physical copy
A specialist retailer lists a physical Microsoft Xbox copy and describes the package as including the game, case, and manual. The listing’s stock can change, so check its current condition, contents, price, and availability before buying. It does not establish that an Amazon listing is available. View the retailer listing.

- For the Xbox
Clark’s Pulse Racer project
Clark’s project is an in-development, low-poly, stylized sim-cade racer—not a port, remake, or edition of Jaleco’s Xbox game. Its itch.io page describes a public alpha demo with one playable car, Rager VF, and one stylized Suzuka track, plus keyboard and gamepad support. The page warns that its WebGL build is a cut-down port and that performance may vary. Because the creator page could not be opened directly, these build details and availability are not independently verified here; check the page for the current status.
The listed controls include WASD for steering, Shift for boost, and Space for the handbrake. The page characterizes the handling physics as experimental. Multiplayer is described as a planned feature for the future full game, not as a confirmed feature of the current demo. Check Clark’s itch.io page.

Choosing the right search or listing
- For the 2000s Jaleco game, search for “Pulse Racer Xbox game” and verify that a listing is for the original Microsoft Xbox version.
- For the indie project, search for “Pulse Racer by Clark” and confirm the creator and demo status on itch.io.
- Before buying a used Xbox copy, check the seller, disc and package condition, included items, and compatibility with your setup; a retailer listing alone does not confirm compatibility with every modern Xbox console.
