Project Motor Racing Update 2.0 arrived on March 25, 2026, with changes to the interface, Career Mode, online racing, license points, handling and tyre model. The separate Japanese GT500 Pack followed on March 31, adding nine cars and a Japanese circuit. Update 2.0 is now a historical milestone, not the latest major-update story: the official news index lists Update 2.1 on July 29, 2026.
What changed in Project Motor Racing Update 2.0?
Update 2.0 focused on how the game looks and plays rather than adding a roster of cars or a track. Its official patch notes describe a redesigned interface, Career Mode changes, online anti-cheat and session-flow work, refined license points, and further handling and tyre-model adjustments. Xbox Wire’s overview likewise groups the update around interface, driving feel, online racing and career progression.

How is Update 2.0 different from the Japanese GT500 Pack?
They are separate releases with different kinds of value: Update 2.0 changed game systems, while the Japanese GT500 Pack added vehicles and a circuit.

There is a regional naming difference, not evidence of two separate packs: SEGA’s Japanese announcement called the announced content the “Japanese Prototypes Pack” and described nine Japanese race cars and one circuit, with release planned for March 31. For English-language coverage, GIANTS Software uses “Japanese GT500 Pack.” SEGA’s announcement lists PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC storefront variants including Steam, Epic Games Store and Windows for the game; verify the pack’s current availability in your specific store before buying.
Is Update 2.0 the latest version?
No. Update 2.0 released March 25, 2026, and the official Project Motor Racing news index lists Update 2.1 dated July 29, 2026. That later major update superseded 2.0 as the newer update milestone. This article covers what 2.0 changed; it does not establish which update is the latest today.

Do you need a steering wheel to play?
No wheel requirement is stated in the cited materials. The official game manual includes force-feedback setup guidance, making a compatible racing wheel and pedals an optional accessory for players who want that setup—not a stated requirement to play. Check the manual and your platform’s compatibility information before choosing hardware.
