The qtsvg4.dll errors you may see
A Windows application using qtsvg4.dll may display one of these messages:
The program can't start because QtSvg4.dll is missing from your computer.
Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.
QtSvg4.dll was not found.
Error loading QtSvg4.dll.
The specified module could not be found.
The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b).
The filename may appear as qtsvg4.dll, QtSvg4.dll, or QtSvg4.dll in a loader message. Windows filenames are not case-sensitive, so these refer to the same named library.

The 60-second answer
qtsvg4.dll is an older Qt 4 library from the QtSvg module. It provides SVG functions used by Qt applications, including some older tools, launchers, games, and technical software.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →The safest fix is to identify the application named in the error and use its Verify, Repair, or Reinstall option. Do not download a random copy of the DLL and place it in System32 or SysWOW64. That can introduce the wrong architecture or build and leave the application’s other missing dependencies unfixed.

The file normally belongs beside the executable that needs it, not in a Windows system directory.
What qtsvg4.dll does
QtSvg is the Qt module responsible for working with Scalable Vector Graphics. Qt applications can use it to display or generate SVG images through components such as SVG renderers, widgets, and generators.
qtsvg4.dll is associated with the Qt 4 runtime. One known build is a 32-bit 4.8.4.0 file of approximately 0.27 MB, but that does not describe every valid copy. The correct file depends on the application, Qt build, compiler, and application architecture.
Some older programs using this library include Qt-based utilities, game launchers, geographic-information software, and legacy business applications. The error itself does not identify the original publisher reliably. The program that installed the file is the one you need to repair.
Fix 1: Repair or reinstall the affected application
This is the fix I would try first in a repair shop, especially if the error began after an update, interrupted installation, disk cleanup, or moving the program folder.
If the application has a launcher
- Close the error message.
- Exit the application completely.
- Look in the Start menu, desktop shortcut, or notification area for its launcher.
- Open the launcher.
- Find a menu named Settings, Manage, Options, or Game Settings.
- Select Verify files, Verify integrity, Repair, or a similarly named command.
- Wait for the process to finish.
- Restart Windows.
- Start the application again from its normal shortcut.
The launcher should restore the complete matching Qt runtime, not just qtsvg4.dll.
If there is no repair option
- Open Settings with
Windows key + I. - Select Apps.
- Choose Installed apps on Windows 11, or Apps & features on Windows 10.
- Find the program named in the error.
- Select the three-dot menu, or select the program and choose Advanced options if available.
- Choose Repair and test the application.
- If Repair is unavailable or fails, uninstall the program.
- Download a fresh installer from the application developer or the official game or software platform.
- Install it to its normal location.
- Restart Windows and test again.
Do not delete the application folder before uninstalling unless the vendor specifically instructs you to. The uninstaller may need its files to remove the old installation cleanly.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteIf reinstalling does not help, check whether the shortcut launches a second, older installation. Right-click the shortcut, select Properties, and inspect the Target path. Make sure it points to the installation you just repaired.
Fix 2: Check antivirus quarantine
Security software can remove or quarantine a Qt DLL after an update or after the file changes.
- Open Windows Security from the Start menu.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Choose Protection history.
- Look for an entry involving the affected application or
QtSvg4.dll. - Open the entry and review its path and detection details.
- Restore the file only if the application came from a trusted official source and you have confirmed the detection is a false positive.
- Reinstall or verify the application afterward so its complete runtime is restored.
Do not disable antivirus protection simply to make the error disappear. If the file is repeatedly quarantined, reinstall the application from its official source and submit the detection to the security provider for review.
If Windows Security has blocked the program rather than quarantined the DLL, check whether the application is being prevented from accessing its own installation folder. Controlled-folder-access settings, permissions, or an aggressive third-party security product can cause this behavior.
Fix 3: Match the application architecture and Qt build
A 32-bit application needs a 32-bit Qt DLL even when Windows itself is 64-bit. A 64-bit application needs a 64-bit build. The two cannot be exchanged just because both files have the name QtSvg4.dll.
A replacement can also fail when it was built with a different Qt or compiler configuration. Qt 4.8.4 packages were available in Visual Studio 2008, Visual Studio 2010, and MinGW variants. An application built for one of those environments may not work with a DLL from another.
Symptoms of a bad match include:
0xc000007b- A missing entry-point message
- “The application was unable to start correctly”
- “The application was not designed to run on Windows”
- A file that exists but still cannot be loaded
These messages can indicate a corrupt file, wrong architecture, incompatible Qt build, or missing compiler runtime. They do not prove that Windows itself is damaged.
The practical fix is to use the application’s own installer. If the vendor documents a required Microsoft Visual C++ runtime, install that architecture and release. Microsoft provides separate x86 and x64 redistributables, and the package must match the application. Older Qt programs may require an older Visual C++ 2008 or 2010 runtime rather than only the newest package.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Do not install every Visual C++ package at random. Check the application’s documentation, installer, or support instructions first.
Fix 4: Restore the complete Qt dependency set
QtSvg4.dll may be present while another required file is missing. Common related dependencies include:
QtCore4.dllQtGui4.dllQtXml4.dll- A compiler runtime
- A Qt plugin such as
qsvg4.dll
If the error changes to name another DLL after you copy one file, that is a sign that the application installation is incomplete. Do not keep adding individual DLLs from unrelated sources.
Repair or reinstall the application instead. Preserve its original directory structure, especially any plugins or image-format subdirectories. Qt applications commonly load their private runtime from folders beside the application executable.
Fix 5: Install pending application and Windows updates
An application update may replace several Qt files together. Updating only one component can leave the installation mismatched.

First update the affected application through its own launcher or official installer. Then check Windows:
- Press
Windows key + I. - Select Windows Update.
- Choose Check for updates.
- Install available updates.
- Restart when prompted.
- Try the application again.
Windows Update will not normally supply a third-party qtsvg4.dll, so this step is secondary. It can still correct operating-system components that prevent an otherwise valid application from starting.
Fix 6: Reinstall the required driver only when the application depends on one
A graphics, capture, printer, or specialized hardware application may fail during startup because its driver or related runtime is damaged. This is less direct than repairing the Qt application, but it is worth checking when the program interacts with hardware.
- Right-click the Start button.
- Select Device Manager.
- Expand the relevant category, such as Display adapters, Imaging devices, Printers, or Sound, video and game controllers.
- Right-click the affected device.
- Select Properties and inspect the General and Driver tabs.
- Use Update Driver, or download the driver from the hardware manufacturer.
- Restart Windows.
- Test the application.
Do not use Device Manager to replace qtsvg4.dll itself. Device Manager manages hardware drivers, not ordinary Qt application libraries.
When several devices have stale drivers, manually identifying the correct package can mean checking hardware IDs, vendor pages, and architecture repeatedly. Outbyte Driver Updater can scan for outdated drivers; its free scan shows what it found, while driver installation is handled by the full version. It is optional, and reinstalling the affected application remains the definitive fix when that application owns the Qt file.

System File Checker and DISM repair protected Windows components and the Windows image. They do not normally replace a third-party Qt DLL stored in an application folder.
Use these commands when you also have Windows features failing, repeated system-file errors, update problems, or other unrelated applications breaking.
Recommended Free Tools
- Open Start.
- Type
Command Prompt. - Right-click Command Prompt.
- Select Run as administrator.
- Run:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Wait for it to finish.
- Run:
sfc /scannow
- Wait until verification reaches 100 percent.
- Restart Windows.
- Test the affected application.
Microsoft documents DISM image repair and System File Checker. If either command reports errors it cannot repair, repeat the application repair rather than copying a DLL into a system folder.
Repeatedly running SFC and DISM without knowing which component changed can waste time. Outbyte PC Repair can scan for broader Windows problems; its free scan identifies issues, while repair is provided by the full version. It is optional and cannot replace the official installer for the application that owns qtsvg4.dll.
Why System32, SysWOW64, and regsvr32 are usually wrong
Do not place QtSvg4.dll in C:WindowsSystem32 or C:WindowsSysWOW64 as a general repair. A 32-bit application on 64-bit Windows normally uses its own 32-bit DLL beside its executable. A system-folder copy can create search-order conflicts and still leave Qt plugins or dependent libraries missing.
regsvr32 is also normally irrelevant. It registers DLLs that provide a registration entry point such as DllRegisterServer, usually for COM components. Qt runtime libraries are normally loaded by the application and are not registered as COM servers.

Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Running this is therefore unlikely to help:

It may produce an error stating that DllRegisterServer was not found. Do not treat that message as evidence that another random DLL is needed.
When to use System Restore or perform a clean reinstall
Use System Restore only as a last resort when the failure clearly began after a recent system change and no clean application installer is available.
Before considering it:
- Confirm the application is from a trusted source.
- Check antivirus quarantine.
- Verify or reinstall the application.
- Confirm the shortcut points to the correct installation.
- Check for permissions or controlled-folder-access blocks.
- Back up personal files.
If multiple unrelated files are disappearing, run a full security scan and check the disk for errors before reinstalling applications. Malware or disk failure can repeatedly damage freshly installed files.
Developer deployment note
If you maintain a Qt application, deploy the complete matching Qt runtime from the same build beside the application executable. Match the target’s 32-bit or 64-bit architecture, compiler toolchain, Qt version, and plugin directory structure.

Do not ask users to copy one QtSvg4.dll into System32. If the program needs an SVG plugin, deploy that plugin and its dependencies in the expected application subdirectory as well.
FAQ
Is qtsvg4.dll a Windows system file?
No. It is an application-side Qt 4 library and should normally be installed with the program that uses it.
Can I download qtsvg4.dll by itself?
That is risky. A random download may contain malware, the wrong architecture, or an incompatible Qt build. It can also conceal missing files such as QtCore4.dll or QtGui4.dll. Use the affected application’s official installer or repair function.
Does the 32-bit file work on 64-bit Windows?
Only when the application using it is 32-bit and the rest of its Qt runtime matches. Windows being 64-bit does not make a 64-bit DLL suitable for a 32-bit program.

One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchWill the newest Visual C++ redistributable fix it?
Not necessarily. Older Qt applications may require a specific older Visual C++ runtime or may have been built with MinGW. Follow the application vendor’s requirement.
Should I run regsvr32 qtsvg4.dll?
Normally no. Qt runtime DLLs are loaded by the application, not registered as COM servers.
What if reinstalling does not work?
Check the launcher path, multiple installations, antivirus history, application permissions, plugin folders, and the required compiler runtime. If the error is 0xc000007b or mentions an entry point, suspect an architecture or build mismatch rather than a simple missing file.
