Rainbow Six Siege audio problems can affect game effects, music and announcements, menus, or voice chat—and the right first check depends on which one is failing. Start by identifying the symptom, then check the matching in-game control. On PC, Ubisoft support has also recommended updating the game, verifying its files, and restarting. These steps can narrow down the cause, but none is a guaranteed fix for every audio fault.
First, identify what is actually failing
Before changing settings, note whether the problem affects all audio on your device or only Siege. Then narrow it down to the affected sound category and when the fault occurs. For example, laggy or cut-out effects with missing music and announcements is different from working game audio with broken voice chat.
- Scope: Is audio missing from other apps or games, too, or only Siege?
- Category: Are effects, music or announcements, menus, or voice chat affected?
- Timing: Does it happen consistently, intermittently, or only after an update, an audio-device switch, or a longer session?
- Setup: What platform and audio output are you using—speakers, a wired headset, or a wireless headset?
Ubisoft support asked a PC player with an audio issue about their output device, while Siege provides separate controls for different sound categories and voice chat. Recording these details helps you choose relevant checks and describe the problem clearly if you need to report it. Ubisoft support’s May 2025 response is case-specific; it does not establish one cause for all reports.
Check Siege’s audio settings
Siege has separate sliders for master volume, in-game music, in-game sounds, menu music, menu sounds, and voiceovers. Check the setting that corresponds to the missing or unusually quiet audio rather than changing every control at once. A low category slider can make that category seem broken even when other sounds work.

If the issue is voice chat, inspect the microphone volume, input mode, and noise threshold. Siege also offers configurable dynamic range and customizable tinnitus sound effects for explosions and stun grenades; these options can change how sound is presented, but they are not repairs for a game defect. The exact menu labels or path may vary by platform or game version, so use the current in-game audio and voice-chat settings rather than relying on an unverified path. Ubisoft’s accessibility overview, published September 16, 2026, describes these controls.
Try Ubisoft’s documented PC troubleshooting steps
For a problem on PC, Ubisoft support’s May 2025 reply recommended the following sequence. The reply addressed one player’s report, so treat these as practical checks rather than a guaranteed cure.

- Follow Ubisoft’s audio troubleshooting guidance. Use the linked guidance for the particular setup and symptom rather than applying unrelated system changes.
- Verify the game files. Use the file-verification option in the launcher where Siege is installed.
- Restart and check again. After updating or verifying files, restart the game and see whether the same symptom remains.
In the same case, Ubisoft support also suggested installing Siege, Steam, and Ubisoft Connect on the same SSD rather than an HDD, and repairing the Steam storage folder where relevant. These are optional, case-specific checks—not established fixes for every audio problem. Read the support exchange for its context.
Compare another audio output as a diagnostic
If practical, compare the current output with another device, such as speakers instead of a headset, or a wired instead of wireless connection. This can help you describe whether the issue changes with the output device. Ubisoft’s support response asks what device the player uses, but it does not say that replacing a headset or buying an accessory will fix Siege audio.

Check service status, then report a persistent fault
Ubisoft’s service-status page showed “No Issues” across the listed PC, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms in its October 5, 2026 update. That is a time-bound general status snapshot: it cannot rule out a local device or settings issue, and it does not establish whether a specific Siege audio defect is active. Check the live Rainbow Six Siege service status for current information.
If the problem persists and you can reproduce it, Ubisoft’s support index directs players to its bug-reporting route. Include the information Ubisoft requests, plus useful context about your setup:

- Where the issue occurs and what you expected to hear versus what actually happened.
- Reproduction steps and whether the fault is constant or intermittent.
- Any workaround you found, along with screenshots or video if they help show the issue.
- Your platform, the affected audio category, the output device and connection type, and whether the problem began around a game update.

The cited guidance does not establish registry edits, deleting configuration files, disabling security software, or changing a particular sound driver as general fixes for Siege audio bugs. Avoid making invasive system changes on that basis. The available evidence also does not support buying a new headset, cable, sound card, or USB audio adapter as a general solution; consider hardware replacement only if a separate, specific device fault has been identified.
