If Rainbow Six Siege seems stuck on PS5, first identify whether matchmaking is still searching, a match has been found and is loading, or the game cannot reach its lobby. Those are different problems with different next steps. Ubisoft’s PS5 service-status page showed “No Issues” in its October 5, 2026 update, but check the live status page during a current delay; that snapshot does not rule out a regional or individual connection problem.
Identify where the wait is happening
Note the exact screen and when the delay begins. Also record whether it affects only you or the whole squad, and whether it is intermittent or reproducible. These details help separate a matchmaking search from a loading hang or a launch problem.
- Matchmaking search: The game has not found a match. Record the mode, approximate time, party size, region if known, and whether the search eventually errors or times out.
- Loading after a match is found: Record whether the hang occurs on initial entry, after operator selection, between rounds, or while reconnecting. Note whether other squad members load in.
- Launch or lobby failure: The game will not start or cannot reach its lobby. This is a different symptom from a long matchmaking search.
If matchmaking search does not end
Check Ubisoft’s Rainbow Six Siege service-status page while the search is stuck. The PS5 result was “No Issues” in the page’s October 5, 2026 update; it is a dated snapshot, not a guarantee that every player or region is unaffected, and status can change.
A February 2026 Reddit post describes a PS5 player who remained in matchmaking without being placed into a game. A reply suggested checking a mode setting, but that single anecdote does not establish a widespread fault or a reliable fix. Do not treat changing a setting such as Bomb as a confirmed solution.

If a match is found but loading hangs
Ubisoft directs players with difficulty connecting to Siege’s online services, including slow connection speed, to its connectivity troubleshooting guide and recommends contacting support if the issue persists. The guide’s URL is PC-oriented, so its steps should not be assumed to be PS5-specific.
A September 2026 Reddit discussion reports long match loads and includes commenters suspecting older-generation consoles in a lobby. Those comments are anecdotal: they do not establish that an older console is causing your PS5’s delay or identify the cause of any particular hang. Likewise, an older 2022 Steam discussion includes a Ubisoft Support developer reply about checking service status and connectivity, and mentions corrupted game files after an update as a possibility; it is PC-era context, not a current PS5 diagnosis.

If Siege will not launch or reach the lobby
PlayStation’s general PS5 game-start troubleshooting recommends trying the following. These are general console steps, not guaranteed fixes for slow Siege matchmaking or a server-side delay.
- Restart the PS5.
- If Siege is installed on USB extended storage, move it to the console’s internal storage.
- Restore licenses.
- Delete and redownload the game.
- Try a wired internet connection.
- Check that the PS5 system software is current.
If the game still will not start after these general checks, contact PlayStation Support.

When and how to report a recurring problem
If the delay keeps happening, use Ubisoft’s Rainbow Six Siege Support route. Ubisoft’s support guidance asks for the point in the game where the issue occurs, expected behavior, steps to reproduce, any workaround, and supporting material such as images or video.

- State whether the issue is matchmaking, initial loading, a between-round load, reconnecting, or launch failure.
- Include the mode, approximate time, party size, and region if known.
- Say whether the delay affects one player or the whole squad, and whether it happens consistently.
- Describe what you expected, what happened instead, and any workaround you tried; attach a recording or image if useful.
