Its biggest additions were Dual Front, a permanent 6v6 mode on PC and current-generation consoles, and substantial updates to Siege’s established 5v5 mode. Free Access is not the full game: competitive modes and additional content require premium access.
What Siege X changes
Ubisoft announced Siege X on March 13, 2025, and released it on June 10 alongside Year 10 Season 2, Operation Daybreak. It is an evolution of Rainbow Six Siege, not a separately required paid sequel: existing owners received the update without charge and kept their content and progression, according to Ubisoft’s launch announcement.
The update touches both Dual Front and the familiar 5v5 game. Siege X modernized maps with lighting and shadow changes, higher-resolution textures, optional 4K textures on PC, revamped destructible materials, an audio overhaul, and improved rappel movement. The five maps modernized at launch were Clubhouse, Chalet, Border, Bank, and Kafe. Ubisoft’s Year 10 roadmap subsequently marked additional modernized maps, including Nighthaven, Lair, and Consulate, as released in Year 10 Season 3.
How Dual Front’s 6v6 mode works
Dual Front takes place on a new map called District. Each six-player team includes a mix of Attackers and Defenders, and players can respawn. Teams push into enemy sectors while defending their own; objectives are active in both teams’ lanes, and capturing sectors moves a team toward the opposing Base. A neutral sector offers a place to reposition and take on limited-time assignments. The result is a more fluid format than the one-life, role-specific structure of core 5v5 Siege.

What Free Access includes—and what it does not
At launch, new players could use Free Access for Quick Match, Unranked, and Dual Front, with a limited selection of Operators. Ubisoft said newcomers started with 10 Operators and could expand their roster to 26 through progression. Ranked, Siege Cup, additional Operators, and cosmetics required payment, according to the June 10, 2025 launch announcement.

Ubisoft’s current Discover page describes permanent free access to Quick Match and Unranked with a selection of Operators. It says premium access adds Operators and unlocks Ranked as players progress to level 50. The page’s current summary does not enumerate Dual Front among its Free Access inclusions, so treat that mode’s inclusion as a launch-era offer rather than a guarantee about the present offer. Check Ubisoft’s current terms before relying on specific entitlements or prices.
Ubisoft listed PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC via Ubisoft Connect, Steam, and Epic Games among the launch platforms, and also listed Ubisoft+ Premium as a way to play. Available modes differ by platform generation: Dual Front is limited to PC and current-generation consoles.

PC requirements and console performance targets
Ubisoft’s May 2025 PC specifications set a minimum target of 1080p at 60 FPS. The minimum configuration is an AMD Ryzen 3 3100 or Intel i3 8100 processor, an NVIDIA GTX 1650 4 GB, AMD RX 5500 XT 4 GB, or Intel Arc A380 6 GB graphics card, 8 GB RAM, Windows 10 or 11 with DirectX 12, and a 65 GB SSD. Ubisoft also lists recommended high-settings configurations, with separate targets by resolution and stronger processors and graphics cards. These are publisher specifications, not independent performance-test results. See Ubisoft’s system requirements for the full resolution-specific recommendations.
Ubisoft lists current-generation console performance modes that can target up to 120 FPS in core Siege and 60 FPS in Dual Front, depending on platform and mode. Its PS4 and Xbox One specifications cover core Siege only. For a prospective player, the key console question is therefore whether the console generation supports the desired mode; PC players should compare their hardware with the target for their chosen resolution.

What Ubisoft reported about anti-cheat
In its March 13, 2025 announcement, Ubisoft said it had tripled the size of its anti-cheat team during 2024, improved anti-cheat response time “by 150%,” and seen cheat reports fall 30% compared with the same time the previous year. These are Ubisoft-reported figures and should be read as the publisher’s account of activity and change during that period, not as independent measurements.
