The policy took effect with Siege X’s June 10, 2025 launch. It does not establish that every returning owner lost access: Siege X was a free update for people who already owned the game, and Ubisoft’s public materials do not settle every legacy-account, platform, regional, or subscription entitlement.
What Free Access includes
Ubisoft’s Free Access listing names Quick Match, Unranked, and Dual Front as available modes. Ranked playlists and Siege Cup are listed among features that require payment to unlock.
Ubisoft’s June 2025 launch announcement put it plainly: “Other features, including Ranked, Siege Cup, and additional Operators and cosmetics, require payment to unlock.” This is a restriction on the Free Access tier, not evidence that Ranked disappeared for all Siege players.
Payment does not remove the level requirement
Paid access alone is not enough to enter Ranked or Siege Cup. Ubisoft’s Siege X Showcase says premium access unlocks those modes provided the player has reached the required player level of 50. Treat level 50 as an additional eligibility condition, not as a payment alternative.

What this means for existing owners
Siege X launched on June 10, 2025, as a free update for people who already owned Rainbow Six Siege, according to Ubisoft’s launch announcement. That is distinct from the Free Access offer presented to new players. The available official descriptions do not specify every exception or entitlement for legacy accounts, subscriptions, platforms, or territories, so they do not support a blanket claim that all existing players must now pay for Ranked.
Check your access before buying
- Identify whether you are launching the Free Access version or playing through an existing game ownership or subscription entitlement.
- Check the current offer and mode-access terms in the Ubisoft or platform storefront for your region and platform. Ubisoft lists Siege X across PlayStation, Xbox, and PC, but offer terms may differ.
- If Ranked or Siege Cup remains locked, confirm both that your account has the required paid access and that your player level is at least 50.
Siege X is a live game with seasonal updates. Ubisoft’s roadmap and season index continue to be updated; the roadmap result was last updated September 23, 2026. For current mode availability or changes since launch, consult Ubisoft’s roadmap and season index.
