Ubisoft’s July 9, 2025, Rainbow Six Siege X hotfix was intended to address a third-party software exploit. The reported deployment was PC-only, but Ubisoft did not identify the software or explain how the exploit worked. The available reporting also does not establish whether the fix stopped the exploit or reduced cheating.
What did the July 9 hotfix target?
In a July 8 announcement reproduced by Insider Gaming, the official Rainbow Six account said: “We’ve identified a fix for a 3rd party software exploit which will be deployed in an upcoming hotfix.” That describes the fix’s intended target, not a detailed technical changelog.
The announcement did not name the third-party software or describe the exploit’s mechanism. It also followed a separate account post saying, “We have fixes on the way for some of your most pressing concerns. Thanks for your reports.” The posts acknowledge player concerns and reports, but do not establish that player reports were the sole source of the fix.
Was the hotfix PC-only, and when was maintenance scheduled?
Insider Gaming reported that the July 9 maintenance was for PC. The scheduled window was one hour, beginning at 09:00 EDT (13:00 UTC) on July 9, 2025. That is the reported maintenance timetable, not a measure of how long any player was affected or evidence of the fix’s outcome.

Did the update stop the exploit?
The available reporting establishes Ubisoft’s stated purpose, but does not quantify the result. It gives no post-deployment cheat rate, recurrence rate, or other outcome measure. It therefore cannot show that cheating was eliminated or that the exploit did not return.
How does this fit Ubisoft’s broader anti-cheat work?
Ubisoft’s Year 10 Season 1 security update describes wider efforts that include code-hardening technology intended to make the game more robust against cheat makers, continuing security updates alongside patches, and work on network-lag exploits. That is context for Ubisoft’s broader security program; the update does not say those measures were part of the July 9 hotfix.
