What is Rainbow Six Siege X?
Siege X is a substantial transformation of the existing Rainbow Six Siege, not a separate sequel. Ubisoft said existing owners would receive the update without an additional charge and keep their content and progression. Its launch-era plans combined changes to maps and gameplay systems with player-protection updates and a new mode.
Ubisoft first announced a Siege X showcase on February 16, 2025, with a March 13 date. The teaser pointed to graphical and audio upgrades, deeper tactical gameplay, and new ways to play. As Chris Watters wrote on Ubisoft News that day: “A new era of Rainbow Six Siege will be revealed on March 13 at the Siege X Showcase.” The update went live June 10, 2025.
What changed in the launch-era update?
Ubisoft’s Year 10 roadmap described a set of intended improvements and additions. These are Ubisoft’s announced features, not independent performance-test results.

These descriptions explain the scope Ubisoft announced; they do not establish how much any individual feature improved in measured play.
What was Dual Front?
At launch, Dual Front was a 6v6 mode where attackers and defenders could fight on the same team. Ubisoft’s 2025 roadmap described it as a new way to play, and the mode was included in launch-period Free Access.

Its status changed after launch: Ubisoft’s 2026 Operation Silent Hunt announcement identified that season as Dual Front’s final season. The mode should not be described as a permanent part of Siege X today. Check Ubisoft’s current updates for its live availability.
Is Siege X free?
There were two distinct ways to access Siege X at launch. Existing owners received the update free with their existing content and progression retained. New players could use Free Access, which opened selected modes and Operators but not the full set of paid features.

Ubisoft+ Premium appeared among the supported ways to play in Ubisoft’s launch and roadmap coverage, but subscription terms and current availability can change. Check Ubisoft’s current service details before subscribing.
Can you play Dual Front on PS4 or Xbox One?
No. Ubisoft’s May 2025 platform and system-specification article explicitly said Dual Front would not be available on PS4 or Xbox One. That limitation applied to the mode; it should not be read as a statement that the entire game was unavailable on those consoles.

What were Ubisoft’s PC requirements?
Ubisoft published PC minimum, recommended, and Ultra specifications in May 2025. The figures below are historical targets from that article, not a fresh check of 2026 requirements or independent performance benchmarks. Ubisoft listed 65 GB of SSD storage for several configurations and 110 GB for the Recommended Ultra profile.
The May 2025 specifications also set out resolution and target frame-rate tiers, CPU and GPU classes, memory, and operating-system requirements. Consult Ubisoft’s original specification table for the full configuration details, and verify current requirements before installing or upgrading hardware.

What Siege X means now
The June 2025 launch was a free update for owners, while Free Access gave newcomers a limited set of modes and Operators and reserved Ranked, Siege Cup, additional Operators, and cosmetics for paid access. The launch also brought the announced map, audio, rappel, and tactical changes, plus Dual Front—but Ubisoft later marked Dual Front’s final season in 2026. Check official current updates for live mode availability, requirements, and subscription details.
