Operation Collision Point was Rainbow Six Siege’s Year 9 Season 4 update, released in December 2024. Its headline change was a Blackbeard rework built around the H.U.L.L. Adaptable Shield; the patch also adjusted Sens, Thunderbird, shields and stun grenades, and changed replay navigation, drone handling, training playlists and PC graphics support. This is a historical account of the Y9S4 update, not a description of the game’s current live balance.
Ubisoft’s season page gives the season-wide overview, while the Y9S4 patch notes detail the changes below.
What was Operation Collision Point?
Ubisoft identifies Operation Collision Point as Year 9 Season 4 and lists its release as December 2024. The season-wide overview includes PC-console crossplay, Cheater Match Cancellation and Mousetrap V2 player-protection measures, shield balancing, Blackbeard’s remaster, and the full release of Siege Cup. Those are season-level features; the operator and gameplay adjustments below come from the detailed patch notes.

How did Blackbeard change?
Blackbeard’s new H.U.L.L. Adaptable Shield is designed to provide cover both on foot and while rappelling. Its pneumatic breaching system lets him open rotations through soft walls, and he can use a primary weapon while equipped with the shield. Ubisoft’s operator guide also describes a retracting window that allows primary-weapon use.

The Y9S4 patch notes list his primary weapons as the Mk17 CQB and SR-25, with a claymore as his gadget.
Which operators received balance changes?
Sens
Sens’s R.O.U. Projectors gained an on/off switch: their battery drains only while the screens are active. The patch also reduced the maximum number of projectors dropped using the wheel from 10 to 7, and reduced the distance at which the screens begin blocking vision from 1.15 metres to 0.75 metres. Thermal sights can no longer see through the screens.

Ying
Ying’s Candela no longer has an instant-trigger mode.

What changed for ballistic shields and stun grenades?
Ubisoft adjusted suppressive fire and shield melee in Y9S4. The listed thresholds and damage values are:
| Mechanic | Before | Y9S4 |
|---|---|---|
| Bullets to trigger suppressive fire against a shield operator | 10 | 5 |
| Bullets to reach maximum suppressive-fire intensity | 40 | 20 |
| Shield melee damage | 65 | 0 |
| Stun grenades per operator | 3 | 2 |
These are gameplay values from Ubisoft’s Y9S4 patch notes, not measurements from a player study. The patch kept the guard-break intensity of a single melee attack unchanged, but made shield melee range more like knife-melee range. A shield melee is canceled if the opponent’s melee lands first. Consecutive guard breaks grow more intense with each melee hit, leaving the shield operator more vulnerable.

What quality-of-life and game-health updates were included?
Match replays
Replays moved to the Career tab, with a new widget showing details such as score, win or loss, and map. The Watch tab was removed. Kill events were added to the replay timeline, and selecting one jumps to that moment.
Drone movement
While controlling a stationary drone, players can toggle a preview of its jump trajectory after remaining still briefly; they can toggle the display off again to free HUD space. The trajectory guidance works with all drones except Echo’s and Flores’s. Ubisoft also made drone landings sticky to prevent sliding and allowed jumps for a few frames after a drone runs off a ledge. The landing and ledge adjustments apply to all drones.
