Razer’s Pro Click V2 Vertical Edition is a right-handed vertical office mouse with gaming-capable tracking—not a lightweight competitive gaming mouse. Its 71.7-degree handshake grip may reduce forearm rotation for some people, but it cannot promise pain relief or prevent an injury. At about 150 g, it is best suited to long desk sessions and slower-paced gaming; players who prioritize fast flicks or many side buttons should look elsewhere.

What the Pro Click V2 Vertical Edition is—and isn’t

Razer launched the Pro Click V2 Vertical Edition on April 24, 2025, describing it as its first wireless vertical ergonomic mouse. The design pairs an upright grip, thumb rest and base support with wireless connectivity, programmable controls, RGB lighting and a high-DPI sensor. Razer presents it for both productivity and gaming, but its tall, heavy shape is much closer to a vertical office mouse than a conventional esports design. Razer’s launch announcement explains the product positioning.

As of August 16, 2026, Razer’s US store listed it at $119.99. Price and availability can vary by region and change over time. Check Razer’s US product listing for current details.

Can the vertical grip reduce wrist strain?

A conventional mouse usually puts the palm closer to face-down, rotating the forearm inward. This vertical model turns the hand toward a handshake position at a 71.7-degree angle. In principle, that may reduce the amount of forearm rotation required for some users. Razer says the angle is intended to reduce pronation and ease tendon pressure; those are the manufacturer’s ergonomic claims, not proof that the mouse treats or prevents a medical condition. Razer’s explanation of its design rationale and product page describe the design.

Whether it feels better depends on your hand size, grip, desk height, pointer settings and what is causing discomfort. A vertical grip may not help pain caused by reaching, excessive mouse travel, forceful gripping, or problems involving the shoulder, elbow, neck or nerves. If you have persistent pain, numbness, tingling or weakness, seek medical or occupational-health advice rather than relying on a mouse change.

What it offers for office work

The upright grip, thumb rest and base support are intended to give the hand more contact and reduce the need to hold a palm-down position. Wireless and Bluetooth options can suit a multi-device desk, while programmable controls can put common shortcuts within reach. The six-month battery figure is an “up to” manufacturer estimate, not a guarantee for every configuration.

Synapse 4 is optional for basic mouse operation but needed for deeper customization, app-specific mappings and Razer’s AI Prompt Master shortcut. Prompt Master invokes supported third-party AI workflows; it is not an AI assistant built into the mouse. Check current software, account, application and privacy requirements before relying on it. Razer’s support page describes Synapse and the feature.

Its size and weight are meaningful trade-offs in everyday work. A 150-g mouse may take more effort to move across a large display, and the tall body can be awkward for small hands, tight desk clearances or travel. Reaching the wheel and buttons may require shifting your grip. A vertical shape also changes how the arm moves; it is not automatically more comfortable just because the hand is upright.

How it may fare in games

More suitable for slower-paced play

Strategy, simulation, RPG and other less frantic games are a more natural match than competitive shooters. It may suit players who want one mouse for work and casual gaming, value the handshake grip, and need only a few extra controls. The sensor specifications indicate high-DPI capability, but DPI alone does not establish practical accuracy, latency or competitive performance.

  • Ergonomic Form Factor: All-day comfort at work

  • Multi-Host Connectivity for up to 4 Devices: Convenient multi-tasking
  • 8 Programmable Buttons: Efficient, extended controls
  • Extended Battery Life of up to 400 Hours: To power through long hours of work

Less suitable for competitive FPS and button-heavy play

At approximately 150 g, the mouse is heavy compared with many gaming mice. Its tall shape and unfamiliar movement can make quick flicks and frequent lift-and-reposition movements feel less natural. The basic six-button layout is also a poor fit for players who rely on a large bank of MMO binds. Razer’s published specifications do not establish esports-level latency or performance, so this is not a proven competitive replacement.

It is also a poor match for left-handed players and may not suit claw or fingertip grips that depend on less palm contact. Small-handed users should consider whether they can reach the wheel and side controls without changing their grip.

Allow time to adapt

With the hand rotated, cursor movement feels different at first. You may overshoot targets, make broader movements than intended or find the side buttons unfamiliar. Start with ordinary office tasks before judging it in a fast game. A moderate pointer speed, adjusted operating-system speed if needed, and moving from the forearm rather than tightly flexing the wrist can make the transition easier. There is no established universal adjustment period; reassess if discomfort worsens.

Set up the workstation, not just the mouse

A mouse cannot correct a desk setup that makes you reach or hold your arm in an awkward position. Razer’s general guidance is to keep the keyboard and monitor directly in front of you, place the mouse beside the keyboard, and relax the wrist instead of forcing it into a bent position. Razer’s mouse-positioning guide covers these basics.

  • Keep the mouse close to the keyboard and leave enough desk space to move the forearm.
  • Keep the elbow near the body, support it where practical, and relax the shoulder.
  • Avoid bending the wrist sharply upward or sideways, and avoid gripping the mouse harder than necessary.
  • Take regular breaks and vary tasks; use keyboard shortcuts or another input device when that suits the task better.

Which Razer mouse should you choose?

The standard Pro Click V2 is the key alternative if a fully upright posture seems like too big a change. The Basilisk V3 is a more conventional gaming option for players who prioritize familiar handling and additional controls.

Model Shape and weight Buttons Battery or connection Best fit
Pro Click V2 Vertical Edition 71.7-degree vertical; approximately 150 g Six physical buttons Wireless, Bluetooth and USB-C wired; up to six months under Razer’s stated standard test conditions Right-handed users who prioritize a pronounced vertical grip and office use, with slower-paced gaming.
Pro Click V2 30-degree ergonomic tilt; approximately 110 g Nine programmable buttons Up to 3.5 months, according to Razer People who want a milder ergonomic transition and more buttons. Razer’s US store listed it at $99.99 in the supplied price information.
Basilisk V3 Traditional right-handed ergonomic shape; 101 g 11 programmable buttons Wired Gaming-first users who want a familiar shape and more controls; it is not a vertical or wireless multi-device alternative.

Razer lists the standard Pro Click V2’s tilt, buttons and battery on its productivity page. Its Pro Click line overview provides additional product context.

Who should buy it?

  • Consider it if you are right-handed, want a pronounced vertical grip for long desk sessions, value wireless and Bluetooth connectivity, and do not need an ultralight mouse for competitive play.
  • Choose the standard Pro Click V2 instead if you want a gentler 30-degree tilt, nine programmable buttons or a lighter, lower-profile design.
  • Choose a conventional gaming mouse such as the Basilisk V3 if fast-paced play, a familiar grip, lower weight or more programmable controls take priority.
  • Look elsewhere if you are left-handed, have small hands that cannot comfortably reach its controls, need a large MMO button grid, or want a mouse that guarantees relief from a medical problem.
