In Resident Evil 4 Remake’s Separate Ways DLC, the Chapter 2 Village Cliffs door opens by selecting three symbols at the Stone Dais: top middle, bottom right, and left. The order does not matter. Select those three positions and the locked cliff door opens, allowing progression toward the Church.
Stone Dais symbol solution
At the locked door in the Village Cliffs, examine the stone dais beside the entrance. Its symbol panel contains several selectable positions. Press these three matching symbols:

- Top middle
- Bottom right
- Left
You can enter them in any order. The puzzle checks whether all three correct symbols have been selected, not the sequence in which you press them. When the set is complete, the mechanism unlocks the cliffside door.
Where to find all three clues
First symbol: beside the input dais
Look immediately to the right of the altar-like pedestal where you enter the symbols. A yellow environmental marking on the nearby stone provides the first clue. You do not need to leave the dais area to see it.
#1 Best Overall
- Reawaken a Classic – Resident Evil 4 preserves the essence of the original game, now reconstructed using Capcom’s proprietary RE Engine to deliver realistic visuals and additional narrative depth to the iconic story that was not possible at the time of the original release.
- Modernized Gameplay – The team from 2019’s Resident Evil 2 returns to build upon the series’ modern approach to survival horror. Engage in frenzied combat with the Ganados villagers, explore a European village gripped by madness, and solve puzzles to access new areas and collect useful items for Leon and Ashley’s constant struggle to survive.
- Overwhelming Hordes – Face hordes of rabid enemies that threaten to overwhelm Leon with even more diverse methods of attack than in the original release.
- Survive on a Knife’s Edge – Years of intense training have taught Leon new ways to use his knife, helping to even the odds against the unrelenting onslaught of enemies. By parrying enemy attacks, you can avoid debilitating damage and evade lunging enemies seeking to grab Leon and hold him in place. Make smart use of scavenged knives to deliver precise finishing moves on vulnerable enemies, and even use the element of surprise to quietly dispatch unsuspecting foes before they break.

Second symbol: the opposite cliff
Turn around from the Stone Dais and face the cliff across from the input machine. The second yellow symbol is painted there, near the higher catwalk and the route used for grappling. It can be easy to miss if you remain focused on the door itself, so inspect the rock face and elevated path behind you.
Third symbol: split across the upper wooden walkways
The last clue is the most deceptive. Grapple to the upper wooden catwalk, follow it to the dead end, and look down over the lower platforms. The yellow marking is split across multiple layers of the wooden walkways. From ground level it does not look like one complete symbol; viewed from above, the separated sections line up into the required shape.

Step-by-step walkthrough
- Reach the locked cliff door in the Chapter 2 Village Cliffs area.
- Interact with the stone dais beside the door to bring up the symbol input panel.
- If you want to identify the clues first, inspect the yellow marking immediately right of the dais.
- Turn toward the opposite cliff and check the marking near the higher catwalk and grapple route.
- Grapple to the upper wooden catwalk, walk to its dead end, and look down to align the split marking across the layered platforms.
- Return to the dais and select top middle, bottom right, and left, in any order.
- Approach the now-open door and continue along the route toward the Church.
Why the third clue is easy to overlook
The wooden-platform marking is designed to be read from an elevated viewpoint. Individual sections appear incomplete when viewed from the lower walkway, which can make it seem as if the game has not revealed the full clue. Reaching the upper catwalk and looking down is the intended solution: the layers align visually only from that angle.

No different combination or difficulty-specific arrangement has been established for this encounter. The researched walkthroughs describe a fixed set of three positions for the Chapter 2 Village Cliffs Stone Dais puzzle: top middle, bottom right, and left. If the door does not open, verify that all three selections were registered rather than trying a new order.

Common mistakes and fixes
- Entering the symbols in a sequence: Sequence is irrelevant. Confirm that all three required positions are selected.
- Searching only around the door: One clue is on the opposite cliff and another is on the upper wooden walkways.
- Missing the final symbol: Grapple to the upper catwalk, reach the dead end, and look down so the split yellow sections line up.
- Using the wrong viewpoint: The third marking is deliberately fragmented from below; inspect it from above.
