Reach For The Skies – A Create Experience! runs on Minecraft 1.21.1 with NeoForge. For a working multiplayer installation, every client and the server must use the same 1.0.4 release. Install the client ZIP through a launcher that supports CurseForge imports; for self-hosting, use the separate official 1.0.4 SERVERPACK ZIP.
Godlike.Host offers modded Minecraft server hosting with one-click modpacks, a built-in mod installer and up to three free backups a day.
The pack combines Create automation with addons, exploration, decoration, quests, new mobs and animals. Quests are optional for normal play, while completing a full questline can award Creation Tokens and utility items. This guide covers the exact version, client installation, server choices, controls, 1.0.4 changes and the checks that prevent most connection failures.

What Reach for the Skies is
Reach For The Skies – A Create Experience! is a CurseForge modpack built around the Create machinery and automation system. Its official description places it across several play styles: exploration, multiplayer, quests, technology and Vanilla+. Create is the central progression tool, but the pack extends it with multiple addons, decorative content, side quests, and additional mobs and animals.
That mix matters when you plan a server. A player who joins for factory building may still encounter exploration objectives, decorative building materials, map and note tools, and quest rewards. Treat the pack as one integrated installation rather than adding individual mods to a separate NeoForge profile. The supported release is distributed as a complete client archive and, beginning with version 1.0.4, a separate server archive.

Use the supported version and loader
| Item | Required value | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Minecraft | 1.21.1 | The researched 1.0.4 release is built for this game version. |
| Mod loader | NeoForge | Loading the pack with another loader will not produce a compatible profile. |
| Pack release | 1.0.4 | Clients and server must use the same release, not merely the same Minecraft version. |
| Client download | Official 1.0.4 client ZIP | Use this archive when creating a player profile. |
| Server download | Official 1.0.4 SERVERPACK ZIP | Use this archive as the starting point for a self-hosted server. |
| Release date | June 11, 2026 | This is the upload date recorded on the 1.0.4 release page. |
Download the files from the project’s official CurseForge files page so the launcher, Minecraft version, loader and pack metadata stay aligned. Do not install the server archive as a client profile, and do not pair a 1.0.4 server with an older client release.
Install the client
You need a Minecraft launcher capable of importing a CurseForge modpack ZIP, a legitimate Minecraft 1.21.1 installation, and enough local storage for the complete profile. The exact button names vary between launchers, but the process is the same: import the client archive, confirm the loader, then launch the generated profile.
- Download the client archive. On the official files page, choose the client ZIP for release 1.0.4. Check that the file is identified as the client download rather than “1.0.4 SERVERPACK.”
- Open your modpack-capable launcher. Choose its option to add or import an existing CurseForge profile, then select the downloaded ZIP. Do not unzip individual mods into a vanilla installation unless the launcher specifically performs the import for you.
- Confirm the game version. The profile should show Minecraft 1.21.1. If the launcher proposes another version, stop and correct the profile before downloading or launching.
- Confirm NeoForge. The generated profile must use NeoForge. A Forge, Fabric or vanilla profile is a different environment and will not match this pack.
- Keep the profile on release 1.0.4. Disable automatic pack updates for a shared server profile, or record the exact release before accepting an update. A later client update can make an otherwise healthy server appear incompatible.
- Launch once in single-player. Let the launcher finish downloading dependencies, then enter a test world. This verifies that the profile itself starts before you add a server address or invite other players.
- Record the profile details. Write down Minecraft 1.21.1, NeoForge and Reach For The Skies 1.0.4. Give those three values to every player before they connect.
What a successful client import looks like
- The launcher lists a dedicated Reach For The Skies profile rather than a generic NeoForge instance.
- The profile identifies Minecraft 1.21.1 and NeoForge.
- The installed pack version is 1.0.4.
- A local test world reaches the title screen and loads without a missing-mod prompt.
- The expected pack controls, including the map and backpack keys, are present in the Controls menu.
If any of those checks fails, fix the profile before troubleshooting a server. A connection error caused by a client-side mismatch cannot be repaired from the server console.
Set up a self-hosted server
The official project files provide a dedicated 1.0.4 SERVERPACK ZIP. That archive is the correct starting point for a home server or a machine you administer yourself. The public project pages confirm that the server pack exists, but they do not publish a universal RAM baseline, port checklist or launch command. Those details can vary with the package contents and operating system, so use the loader and start instructions included in the downloaded server package or the author’s current documentation.

- ULTIMATE COLLECTION — Includes Minecraft: Java & Bedrock Edition, five Bedrock add-ons, five exclusive Character Creator items, and 1000 Minecoins.
- CREATE YOUR WORLD — Build whatever you imagine in an infinite world that’s unique in every playthrough.
- EXPLORE AND CRAFT — Discover biomes, resources, and mobs, then craft your way through a sandbox world filled with surprises.

- Download the exact server archive. Select the 1.0.4 SERVERPACK ZIP, not the client ZIP. Keep the original archive so you can verify which release was deployed.
- Extract it into a dedicated directory. Use a new folder for this server rather than mixing files with another Minecraft instance. A separate directory makes backups, upgrades and rollback easier.
- Read the included instructions before starting. Follow the package’s supplied loader and start procedure for your operating system. Do not substitute a command copied from a different modpack or Minecraft version.
- Install the required Java/runtime software identified by the package. The public project listing does not state a single runtime requirement, so use the version named by the server files or current author documentation.
- Start the server once locally. Allow it to generate its configuration and world files, then stop it using the package’s documented method. Review the console for a clean completion rather than assuming that a process staying open means the server is ready.
- Accept the game’s legal agreement if prompted. Complete this only in the generated server configuration and then restart using the documented start procedure.
- Configure access and administration. Set the server name, operator accounts, difficulty and other gameplay settings in the generated configuration files. Keep a copy of the original files before making changes.
- Plan network access. For players outside your home network, configure the firewall and router according to the port and networking instructions supplied with the server package or your host. The project page does not publish a one-size-fits-all port checklist, so verify the actual listening port from the generated server configuration.
- Join with a matching client. Test from the same machine first, then from another network if remote access is required. Every tester must use Minecraft 1.21.1, NeoForge and pack release 1.0.4.
- Back up before inviting players. Stop the server cleanly, copy the world and configuration files, and retain at least one backup outside the live directory. Repeat this before pack updates or major configuration changes.
What the public listing does and does not specify
The project pages establish that a server pack is available for 1.0.4 and that this availability starts with that release. They do not establish a universal memory allocation, guaranteed player capacity, operating-system recipe or exact launch command. Any guide that presents one fixed number or command as official for every installation is going beyond the published information. Use the files in your download as the authority for those deployment details.
Managed hosting or self-hosting?
A managed host can remove operating-system and networking work, while self-hosting gives you direct control over files and hardware. The right choice depends on whether you want to administer the machine or simply provide a reliable address for your group.

| Control over files and versions | Depends on the host panel and its file manager. Check whether you can pin 1.0.4 and upload the official server files. | Full control over the directory, configuration, backups and update timing. |
| Backups | Availability, retention and restore tools depend on the selected plan; verify them before purchase. | You create and store backups yourself, including world, configuration and permissions files. |
| Player capacity | Depends on the plan’s hardware and the host’s limits; no capacity figure is established by the pack’s project page. | Limited by your machine, Java/runtime configuration, network and the number of active Create machines and entities. |
| Geographic latency | Choose a data-center region close to most players when the host offers that option. | Latency follows the location and upload quality of your internet connection. |
| Support | The host may provide panel or infrastructure support; confirm whether modpack troubleshooting is included. | You are responsible for operating-system updates, networking, logs and recovery. |
| Price | Current prices and terms vary by provider and plan; verify them at checkout. | There is no hosting subscription, but you provide hardware, electricity, storage and network service. |
| Exact pack support | Do not assume a generic NeoForge button is enough. Verify support for Reach For The Skies 1.0.4, Minecraft 1.21.1 and the official server pack. | Exact support is achieved by using the official archive and keeping all clients on the same release. |
Questions to ask a managed host
- Is the available template the 1.0.4 release, rather than an older pack revision?
- Does the template run Minecraft 1.21.1 with NeoForge?
- Can you upload or select the official SERVERPACK ZIP if the one-click template is unavailable?
- Can the panel pin a pack version so an automatic update does not break the clients?
- How are world backups scheduled, retained and restored?
- Which data-center locations are available to your players?
- What support is included for modpack startup errors versus general hosting issues?
Keep every player and the server aligned
Most multiplayer failures with modpacks are version mismatches. Before asking a player to reconnect, compare these three values on both sides: Minecraft 1.21.1, NeoForge, and Reach For The Skies 1.0.4. A client that has silently updated to a newer pack, or a server created from an older archive, is not equivalent even if the title looks similar in the launcher.
Keep a short server notice with the required values and the official download location. When you change releases, schedule the change, back up the world, update the server and distribute the same client release to everyone. Avoid replacing individual mods by hand; that can create a profile that no longer matches the pack’s tested file set.

Quests, Creation Tokens and progression
Quests are not mandatory for ordinary play. You can build Create machinery, explore and use the pack’s other systems without treating the quest book as a required tutorial. They are useful when a group wants structured goals or a way to introduce unfamiliar addons.
Completing an entire questline can award Creation Tokens. The project describes these tokens as a source of useful items, including Nature’s Compass, Explorer’s Compass and waystones. The reward is tied to completing the full questline, not merely opening an individual task.
A quest labeled OPTIONAL should be read in context. It is optional for general survival, but it may still be necessary if your goal is 100-percent completion of that questline. Plan your group’s objective before skipping those tasks.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Default keybinds to check after importing
| Key | Function listed by the project | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Y | Teams GUI | Another mod or your desktop software may already use Y. |
| V | Voice chat | Confirm push-to-talk or voice settings separately from the key assignment. |
| B | Backpacks | Check that the backpack screen opens and that no inventory shortcut overrides it. |
| M | Map | Resolve conflicts with minimap, fullscreen map or other navigation controls. |
| N | Notes | Confirm that the notes screen opens without replacing a key used by another mod. |
Open the launcher’s in-game Options and Controls menus after the first import. Search for each function rather than relying only on the displayed key, because a conflict indicator can be easy to miss. If you change a binding, tell the rest of the group so instructions and voice-chat habits remain consistent.

Changes introduced in 1.0.4
- Waystones: Sable added. This is a new waystone entry in the release’s travel content.
- The Beyond updated. The changelog records an update to this component.
- Hemp quest corrected. A quest that incorrectly required wild hemp was fixed to require normal hemp.
- Server pack made available. The dedicated server pack starts with version 1.0.4, making this the first release in the researched series with that official multiplayer archive.
If a guide or server announcement predates June 11, 2026, it may describe a client-only installation or the old hemp requirement. Use the 1.0.4 files and changelog as the current reference for this release.
Troubleshooting the common setup failures
The launcher says the pack is incompatible
Open the profile details and compare Minecraft, loader and pack release. Correct any value that is not 1.21.1, NeoForge or 1.0.4. Re-import the official client ZIP if the launcher created a profile from a different archive.
Recommended Free Tools
The server starts, but clients are rejected
Confirm that the server was extracted from the 1.0.4 SERVERPACK ZIP and that every client uses the 1.0.4 client profile. A matching Minecraft version alone is insufficient; NeoForge and the pack release must also match.
The server will not launch
Read the package’s included start instructions and compare the installed runtime with the version they specify. Because the public listing does not publish one universal command or memory baseline, do not copy a launch line from another pack. Preserve the first startup log when asking the author or host for help.
Best Value
- Play and share with friends on console, mobile and Windows 10
- discover community creations in the new in-game store
- access new mini games and game modes through servers
Remote players cannot connect
First test locally on the server machine. If local access works, check the listening port shown in the generated server configuration, the operating-system firewall and the router or host networking rules. Verify the public address and confirm that the host or internet connection allows inbound traffic.
A key does nothing or opens the wrong screen
Open Options > Controls, search for Teams, voice chat, backpacks, map and notes, and remove duplicate bindings. The default assignments are Y, V, B, M and N, but another mod or your own settings may have taken one of those keys.

Make sure the installation is actually 1.0.4. That release fixes the task that previously asked for wild hemp instead of normal hemp. Updating only a client or only a server can create a second mismatch, so update the complete installation together.
