Yes—Rockstar officially released the original Red Dead Redemption on PC on October 29, 2024. It is now available through the Rockstar Store, Steam, and Epic Games Store. When did Red Dead Redemption come to PC?
Rockstar announced the PC version on October 8, 2024, confirming a release date of October 29, 2024. The PC version was developed in collaboration with Double Eleven.

Where can you buy it?
Rockstar officially released the PC version on three storefronts:
- Rockstar Store, with access through the Rockstar Games Launcher.
- Steam.
- Epic Games Store, whose distribution Rockstar confirmed in its launch announcement.
Steam requires a Rockstar Games third-party account and Steam account linking. Buying the game on Steam therefore does not create a completely Steam-only experience; Rockstar account integration remains part of setup.
The Rockstar Store listed a U.S. price of $49.99 in the available product information. Steam also listed a $49.99 standard price. Prices vary by country, taxes, currency, and temporary promotions, so check the relevant storefront before buying. A previously captured Steam discount of $24.99 ended on August 10 and should not be treated as a current offer.
What is included in the PC version?
The package contains:
- The complete single-player campaign of Red Dead Redemption.
- The complete single-player Undead Nightmare expansion.
- Bonus content from the Game of the Year Edition.
- PC-specific graphics and display options.
Undead Nightmare is a separate supernatural story campaign set in a zombie-outbreak version of the game’s world. It is included in the same PC product, so it is not a separately required purchase.

The main game follows former outlaw John Marston, who is forced by federal agents to track down former members of the Van der Linde gang. It is the predecessor to Red Dead Redemption 2 in release order, while Red Dead Redemption 2 is the chronological prequel. Players who began with Red Dead Redemption 2 can therefore treat this as the continuation of that broader story, not a remake of the newer game.
Is this a remake or remaster?
No. The most accurate description is a PC version or enhanced PC port.
Rockstar describes the release as building on enhancements made for the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 versions, with additional PC features. The official material does not present it as a ground-up remake, redesigned edition, or rebuilt version of the 2010 game.
That distinction matters. Buyers should expect the original game and its original gameplay rather than a modern reconstruction comparable to a full remake. The main upgrade is platform flexibility and PC display and graphics support.

Rockstar lists the following PC capabilities:
- Native 4K resolution.
- Support for up to 144 Hz on compatible hardware.
- 21:9 ultrawide and 32:9 super-ultrawide monitor support.
- HDR10.
- Full keyboard-and-mouse functionality.
- NVIDIA DLSS 3.7.
- AMD FSR 3.0.
- NVIDIA DLSS Frame Generation.
- Adjustable draw distances.
- Adjustable shadow-quality settings.
“Up to 144 Hz” is a supported display capability, not a guarantee that every computer will render the game at 144 frames per second. Likewise, DLSS and Frame Generation depend on compatible NVIDIA hardware, while FSR support still depends on the game’s implementation and the system configuration.
Ultrawide support is officially listed, but the available product information does not establish that every menu, cutscene, or HUD element scales perfectly on every ultrawide format.

A PC that meets the minimum requirements should not automatically be expected to deliver native 4K, 144 Hz output, HDR, DLSS Frame Generation, or consistently high frame rates. The official requirements also do not directly settle performance questions for integrated graphics, handheld PCs, Linux or SteamOS, virtual machines, or every newer Windows configuration.

No. Multiplayer is not included. The Rockstar Store and Steam listings describe the PC package as the single-player experiences and explicitly state that it does not feature multiplayer content.
This is an important difference for players remembering the original console release and its multiplayer-related modes, including content associated with Undead Nightmare. The PC package should not be treated as a multiplayer revival or as complete parity with every historical console feature.

Which storefront should you choose?
- Choose Steam if you want the game alongside a large existing PC library and value Steam’s library, achievement, review, and community features. You will still need Rockstar account integration.
- Choose the Rockstar Store if you prefer buying directly from Rockstar and already use the Rockstar Games Launcher.
- Choose Epic Games Store if Epic is your preferred library. Rockstar confirms the store as an official PC distribution platform, but regional pricing and other live listing details should be checked directly at purchase time.
The storefront does not change the central package: the original single-player game, Undead Nightmare, and Game of the Year Edition bonus content are included, while multiplayer is absent.

What this release means for PC players
The PC release ended the long wait for an official computer version of the original game. The 2010 release arrived on consoles, and the official PC version followed on October 29, 2024—roughly 14 years later.
For players who know John Marston only through Red Dead Redemption 2, this is the official way to play his later story on PC. For longtime fans, it offers the original campaign and Undead Nightmare with PC display options rather than a redesigned game.
The practical verdict is straightforward: buy it for official PC access to the original story and its included expansion, not for a remake, new gameplay systems, or multiplayer.
