Which console has the Red Dead Redemption 60 FPS toggle?
The toggle described in Rockstar’s October 4, 2023 patch notes is for PlayStation 5 when running the backward-compatible version of the game. The notes do not describe it as a feature for every console version. Rockstar’s title update notes state: “Added an option to enable 60 FPS when played on PlayStation 5 via backward compatibility.”

That distinction matters because Rockstar later announced separate editions for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Their announced features include 60 FPS, enhanced image quality, HDR support, and resolutions up to 4K. Rockstar presented these as features of those later editions, not as the 2023 backward-compatibility toggle. Its announcement describes publisher-stated specifications; it is not an independent performance test.

Rockstar’s update notes were last updated March 3, 2026, and list update 1.06 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, and PC, dated February 24, 2026. The notes describe that update as general bug fixes and improvements; they do not identify it as the update that introduced the PS5 toggle.

Does the 60 FPS update work on PS5?
Yes, for the backward-compatible PS5 version: Rockstar’s update 1.03 notes explicitly add the option. The notes establish that a toggle exists, but do not specify its menu location or document its performance under particular gameplay conditions. Do not confuse that option with the separate later PS5 edition, which Rockstar also lists as supporting 60 FPS.
Can you upgrade the Switch game to Switch 2 for free?
Rockstar says owners of the original Nintendo Switch game can use either the physical cartridge or digital copy to download the Switch 2 Edition at no cost. For a cartridge, insert it into the Switch 2; for a digital copy, install the game. Follow Rockstar’s Switch-to-Switch 2 upgrade instructions for the applicable download steps. This is an upgrade path for existing owners, not evidence of current retail pricing, stock, or store availability.

What the 60 FPS claims do—and do not—establish
The cited material supports Rockstar’s stated features and update dates. It does not establish independently measured frame-rate stability, comparative image quality, or hands-on results. “Up to 4K” is Rockstar’s specification for the later PS5 and Xbox Series X|S editions; it should not be read as a claim that every scene or display configuration runs at a measured 4K resolution.
