What actually launched globally?
REDMAGIC’s international product is the Astra, not the older REDMAGIC Nova. The Astra uses Qualcomm’s newer Snapdragon 8 Elite and has a smaller 9.06-inch display. The Nova is a larger previous-generation tablet built around the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Leading Version, with a 10.9-inch display and a 10,100mAh battery.

That distinction matters because headlines describing a “24GB Red Magic tablet” can make the Astra sound like a single configuration. It is not. REDMAGIC sells the Astra in three listed memory and storage combinations:

There are trade-offs. A 9.06-inch tablet is not pocketable in the way a phone is, and it is less comfortable for split-screen productivity than a 10- to 13-inch tablet. The compact size should be understood as more portable and hand-friendly, not as miniature.
What Snapdragon 8 Elite means for gaming
The Snapdragon 8 Elite gives the Astra the class of processor expected for demanding Android games, emulation, multitasking, and game streaming. The high-end chip also gives the tablet more headroom for demanding workloads than a typical midrange Android slate.
REDMAGIC says the chip delivers up to a 45% CPU performance increase and 44% improved power efficiency, and advertises CPU speeds of up to 4.32GHz on its specifications page. Those figures should be treated as manufacturer claims, not independent benchmark results. They do not guarantee a particular frame rate in every game.
Actual results will vary according to the title, Android version, graphics settings, thermal limits, display resolution, sustained power mode, and the quality of the game’s optimization. The same qualification applies to REDMAGIC’s broader claims about uninterrupted gaming or laptop-level performance.

Does 24GB of RAM make it faster?
Not automatically. Extra RAM primarily increases capacity: it can help retain more background apps, accommodate demanding multitasking, and provide additional headroom for some emulation and long sessions. It does not make every Android game render more frames per second.
For many users, 12GB or 16GB will already be ample. The 24GB/1TB model is most defensible for buyers who want maximum storage for large game libraries and emulation files, routinely multitask, or intend to keep the tablet for years. It is harder to justify solely because a game benefits from “more RAM.” Android also reserves part of the advertised memory for system functions, so usable memory will not equal the printed capacity.
Gaming hardware beyond the processor
REDMAGIC positions the Astra as a gaming tablet through a combination of hardware and software:
- ICE-X cooling: REDMAGIC lists a 13-layer design and Liquid Metal 2.0. This should help explain the tablet’s gaming focus, but the official claims do not substitute for independent sustained-performance testing.
- Game Space: REDMAGIC’s gaming environment is intended to centralize game controls and performance-related options.
- Audio and haptics: Dual speakers, DTS:X Ultra 3D stereo, and dual X-axis linear motors are aimed at making games feel less like ordinary touch-app sessions.
- USB 3.2 Gen 2: The advertised up-to-10Gbps connection makes wired storage, accessories, and compatible external displays more practical than on a slower USB interface.
The Astra is therefore more specialized than a generic fast tablet, although its usefulness still depends on whether the buyer values sustained gaming hardware over productivity features.

Price, configurations, and the missing charger
REDMAGIC’s global store shows the Astra from $499, while the European storefront shows a starting price of €499. These are regional starting prices, not confirmation that the 24GB/1TB model costs that amount. The exact price of the selected configuration should be checked on the relevant regional storefront and at checkout.
The standard package listed by REDMAGIC includes:
- Astra tablet
- USB-C to USB-C cable
- Quick-start guide
- REDMAGIC stickers
The standard package normally does not include a power adapter. REDMAGIC made the adapter an exception for early-bird orders, so later buyers may need to provide a compatible charger separately. That changes the real cost of ownership and is especially important for anyone who does not already have an appropriate USB-C charger.
REDMAGIC also identifies accessories such as the Shadow Blade Gamepad 3 and an 80W Fast Charger on its store. The gamepad is optional and unnecessary for touch-first games. The presence of an 80W charger should not be treated as proof that the Astra itself charges at 80W unless the exact charging specification for the buyer’s market is confirmed.

Global availability in 2026
“Global” confirms that REDMAGIC marketed the Astra outside China through international storefronts; it does not mean that every country received identical stock, delivery times, taxes, or warranty terms. REDMAGIC maintains regional pages, including global and European stores, and those pages can show different purchase conditions.
Availability update, August 2026: The original Astra remained listed on REDMAGIC’s global store but was shown as out of stock on the reviewed product page. REDMAGIC’s global tablet collection also now references an Astra 2. The collection listing establishes that the newer product exists in the current range, but it does not by itself establish Astra 2’s complete specifications, price, or availability.
Stock can change, so buyers should check their exact regional store before treating any price or “available” label as current. An importer or reseller may have inventory, but warranty coverage, taxes, return rights, and regional compatibility need to be checked separately.

It makes sense for:
- Gamers who specifically want a smaller high-performance Android tablet.
- Players who find a phone too cramped but a full-size tablet too awkward for handheld gaming.
- Emulation users who want strong processor performance and up to 1TB of storage.
- Buyers who already own a suitable USB-C charger and controller setup.
- Multitaskers who can make practical use of the 24GB/1TB configuration.
It is a weaker fit for:
- People who primarily want a laptop replacement or a split-screen productivity device.
- Buyers who require a long, clearly defined software-support commitment.
- Anyone who needs a microSD slot, cellular connectivity, or a headphone jack unless those features are confirmed for the exact regional model.
- Casual tablet users who will not benefit from flagship gaming hardware.
- Buyers who can wait for Astra 2 or another current compact gaming tablet.
- Anyone considering an inflated reseller price while the official store is out of stock.
Should you buy the 24GB/1TB model?
The top model is appealing as a storage and headroom package, but it is not automatically the best-value Astra. The 1TB capacity may be useful for large game and emulation libraries; the 24GB memory is more relevant to heavy multitasking and long-term capacity than to ordinary frame rates.
The decision should depend on the actual regional price difference between the 16GB/512GB and 24GB/1TB versions, whether the buyer needs a separate charger, and whether Astra 2 is available at a similar price. With the original Astra currently out of stock on the reviewed global page, buying an older unit at a premium would be difficult to recommend without a clear discount or a strong preference for this compact model.
In short, the Astra is a real global Snapdragon 8 Elite gaming tablet and its headline specifications are broadly accurate. But “24GB RAM” means the premium 24GB/1TB tier, $499 is only the displayed starting price, the charger is usually extra, and the original model’s current stock situation matters more than its launch headline.
