The Rematch beta did not include crossplay. Sloclap opened a Patch 3 test build through the Rematch Beta App on Steam only on August 29, 2025, then released Patch 3 with cross-platform matchmaking and social play on September 5, 2025. The beta’s Steam restriction described who could test that build—not which platforms could play together after the update.
What the Rematch beta included
On August 29, 2025, Sloclap made the Patch 3 beta available through the Rematch Beta App on Steam for a scheduled four-hour test, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. CEST. The studio explicitly said crossplay would not be active in the beta; it was scheduled to arrive with the full Patch 3 release. Sloclap’s Patch 3 announcement lists August 29 as the beta date and September 5 as the release date.
Earlier, on August 12, Sloclap said the beta build would initially be available only to Steam players, regardless of the edition of Rematch they owned. The studio reported that the core crossplay work had been completed and validated by Steam, Xbox, and PlayStation partners, with stabilization and bug fixing still to come. That validation did not mean crossplay was already available to beta testers. The August 12 update described the Steam-only beta access.
When crossplay went live
Sloclap confirmed on September 5, 2025, that Patch 3 and crossplay were live. The studio described crossplay as both cross-platform matchmaking and social play: players could match with people on other supported platforms and invite and play with friends there. The Patch 3 release announcement confirms the launch and describes the feature.

This followed the studio’s earlier explanation that technical complexities kept crossplay out of the game at launch, despite its importance as a social feature. Sloclap’s launch update said the team planned to bring it in a later update.
Crossplay and cross-progression are different
Crossplay lets people on different platforms play together. Cross-progression means carrying a player’s progress from one platform to another. At the September 2025 launch, Sloclap said it had no plans at that time for progress to carry between platforms. That was a time-specific statement; the cited launch announcement does not establish whether the studio’s plans changed later.

How to manage crossplay
At launch, crossplay was enabled by default, with an option to turn it off in the game’s Options Menu under “Online options.” Sloclap recommended leaving it on so players from all platforms could be grouped together for faster, broader matchmaking. The announcement establishes the launch setting, not whether the menu path or default remains unchanged in every current build.
