From behind the reliquary, facing the mountain, follow the dirt path clockwise and turn the statues two, two, one, then three times.
Where to find the Reliquary of Courage
The reliquary is in the Yōtei Grasslands, west of Yōtei’s Shadow Inn, near the Sarubetsu River. It sits in a brushy enclosure with a view of the mountain. For a river-based approach, at Matsumae Crossing take the left-hand branch north, then head to the shore across from Riverfront Hideout. Speak to the woman at the site to begin. The inscription reads: “A boy was lost and alone / But wolves came from every corner to guide him / Their eyes gazing at the true Mount Yotei”. Its clue is the destination of the statues’ gaze: the prominent, snow-capped Mount Yōtei. The mountain should be visible from the enclosure; make sure each wolf is looking toward it, rather than relying on a compass label. PowerPyx and GameSpot also identify the mountain as the target.
Turn the four wolf statues in order
- Stand behind the reliquary, looking over it toward Mount Yōtei.
- Turn the statue behind the reliquary twice.
- Walk clockwise along the dirt path to the next statue and turn it twice.
- Continue clockwise to the statue in front of the reliquary and turn it once.
- Continue clockwise to the last statue and turn it three times.
This sequence uses the starting viewpoint and statue order specified by GameFAQs. Guide diagrams may label the statues from a different viewpoint, so use the invariant instead: all four must face Mount Yōtei.

Reward and optional completion
Solving the puzzle awards the Charm of Mount Yōtei, which reduces all damage by a minor amount. The Reliquary of Courage is one of five Mountain Reliquaries, and the guides describe these as optional exploration activities that can also be completed in free roam after the story. Completing the other reliquaries provides further charm upgrades. PowerPyx’s guide lists the five locations; GameFAQs describes the reward.
