To perform the core ground skill move in REMATCH, hold Dribble Stance, press the Skill Move button, and choose a direction: L2 + X on PlayStation, LT + A on Xbox, or Left Control + X plus a direction on keyboard. It redirects the ball toward your chosen lane. Because Dribble Stance slows you down, use it as a timed change of direction—not a guaranteed escape from a tackle.
How to enter Dribble Stance and do the Skill Move
- Keep the ball and read the defender. Avoid entering the slower stance too early if the opponent has room to close in.
- Hold Dribble Stance: L2 on PlayStation, LT on Xbox, or Left Control on keyboard.
- Press the Skill Move input and choose a direction: X on PlayStation, A on Xbox, or X on keyboard, while directing the move with the stick or movement input. The ball is quickly lobbed or redirected toward that direction.
- Use the space you create. Continue into the open lane, or pass or shoot if the move has opened a better team option.
Epic’s beginner’s guide describes the move as useful for changing direction when an opponent slides in. The direction matters: a defender who stays balanced may still cover the exit lane.
REMATCH dribbling and skill move controls
These inputs follow Epic’s PlayStation/Xbox/keyboard notation. Keyboard bindings can vary by configuration; check the in-game control menu if an input does not work.
| Move | PlayStation | Xbox | Keyboard | Use and tradeoff |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dribble Stance | Hold L2 | Hold LT | Hold Left Control | Slows movement and enables finesse actions. |
| Skill Move | While holding L2, press X and choose a direction | While holding LT, press A and choose a direction | While holding Left Control, press X and choose a direction | Quickly redirects or lobs the ball toward the selected direction. |
| Push Ball | Sprint + X | Sprint + A | Sprint + C | Kicks the ball a short distance ahead to prioritize speed over close control. |
| Rainbow Flick | Sprint + R1 + X | Sprint + RB + A | Sprint + C in Epic’s guide | Lifts the ball over an opponent, but gives up close ground control. Verify the keyboard input in game. |
| Magnus | Shoot + left-stick direction | Shoot + left-stick direction | Shoot + mouse direction | Adds a chosen curve to a shot; it is a shooting mechanic, not a Dribble Stance move. |
Epic’s guide is the clearest source for the core moves and inputs. Prima Games’ control list, published June 20, 2025, also documents several of these controls, but predates later gameplay changes. Treat the in-game bindings as authoritative for your setup.

When to use each move
Skill Move: change direction as a defender commits
Use the Skill Move when you have chosen a clear exit lane and the defender is moving into a challenge. Its value is the quick redirection, not invulnerability: if the defender remains balanced or another opponent covers the lane, the move may not create space.
Push Ball: trade control for a burst into open space
Push Ball sends the ball ahead so you can run onto it. It is better suited to open ground than a crowded challenge, because the ball is temporarily farther from your feet and can be intercepted.

It introduces powerful new features such as gyro settings, stick curve adjustments, and button-to-mouse mapping, giving you deeper customization and more control than ever before.
Rainbow Flick: lift the ball over a nearby opponent
The Rainbow Flick sends the ball up and over an opponent, which can help avoid a ground-level challenge. It also leaves you without immediate close control while the ball is airborne. Epic’s guide lists Sprint + C on keyboard; because other guides and configurations may use different key notation, confirm the binding in game.
Magnus: curve a shot rather than dribble past someone
Magnus applies a chosen curve when shooting. Use the shot direction input to shape the attempt; do not confuse it with the ground Skill Move performed from Dribble Stance.

How tackles interact with dribbling
The developer’s defensive mechanics feature focus distinguishes standing tackles from sliding tackles: standing tackles have shorter reach and commitment, while sliding tackles reach farther and commit the defender for longer. Protective Stance supports dribbles and can prevent being stunned by nearby standing tackles, but it does not protect against sliding tackles. A stance or skill input therefore does not guarantee that you will beat a challenge.
- Against a defender closing with a slide, choose a direction that takes you away from the slide’s path rather than relying on the stance alone.
- When there is open space, consider Push Ball instead of slowing down to enter Dribble Stance.
- If a teammate has a clearer route or a shot is available, pass or shoot rather than taking another dribble.
Are there up-to-date dribble tech videos or move lists?
Published lists do not establish a complete, current catalogue of every advanced technique or exploit after the latest gameplay changes. For aerial actions, Gameranx’s July 19, 2025 guide lists Overhead Flick, Juggling, and Volley inputs. It describes Overhead Flick with R1 + X on PlayStation or RB + A on Xbox while moving backward, Juggling with those inputs while the ball is airborne, and Volley as shooting while the ball is airborne; blue lights around the ball are given as a volley timing cue. These are aerial or volley actions, not ground Dribble Stance moves. The guide predates Season 5, and its inputs should be verified in the current game.

The official REMATCH patch information lists patch 1.205.003, dated September 29, 2026, and says Season 5 brought core gameplay changes that directly affect dribbling and goalkeeper dives. The Steam community patch notice mirrors that update and notes a fix involving controller dribbling before lob Push Ball in online matches. Because both gameplay and bindings can change, check the current in-game controls and patch notes before relying on older advanced-tech instructions.

A move is useful when it creates an advantage, not simply because it beats one opponent. Pass to a free teammate or take the shooting lane if the defender’s commitment has opened one. The official REMATCH site frames the game around skills and tactics on a level playing field, alongside team play.
