For the Windows release, the February 27, 2023 Steam announcement is the most important practical reference. It says the update removed Games for Windows Live and would support local split-screen co-op. In other words, the current Windows route is not dependent on an unofficial co-op injection merely to expose a second player.
Edition menus and controller detection can still differ by platform or installation. “Supported” does not mean every computer automatically identifies every controller. It means the game includes a documented local mode and Capcom has addressed the Windows release’s former service dependency.
