How much does Resident Evil 3 cost on Apple devices?
In the U.S. App Store listing observed on August 18, 2026, Resident Evil 3 is free to download with a limited trial. Unlocking the full game costs $29.99. An optional All In-game Rewards Unlocked purchase costs $4.99.

Those prices are specific to the U.S. storefront and may change or differ by region. The $9.99 launch promotion reported in March 2025 was temporary and ended on April 16, 2025; it should not be treated as the current price.

Supported iPhone, iPad, and Mac models

Intel Macs are not supported. Regular iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus models were not included in the launch compatibility list because they do not use the required A17 Pro chip.
Apple’s current App Store compatibility section is the best authority for newer devices released after launch. Do not judge compatibility by product name alone: different iPad generations can share similar names while using different chips. See the current iPhone and iPad listing or the Mac listing on the device you plan to use.
How much storage does the game need?
Capcom’s App Store information describes the installation as approximately 25–31GB, depending on the platform and listing context, and says that at least twice the application size should be free during installation. In practical terms, having roughly 60–62GB or more available is a sensible target.
The App Store may display a much smaller package size in some platform views, including approximately 684MB for an iPad listing or 20.7GB in a Mac view. Those figures should not be treated as the final storage requirement. The difference appears to reflect the initial package, additional downloadable game data, and platform-specific listing behavior, although Apple’s displayed figures do not provide a complete explanation.
Installation may temporarily require more space than the finished game occupies. A device with 35GB free, for example, can still fail while unpacking or downloading the remaining data. Use stable Wi-Fi and avoid starting the installation with only the visible App Store package size available.

Capcom’s iPad listing gives these approximate download times:
- 10Mbps: more than six hours
- 100Mbps: approximately 30–40 minutes
- 300Mbps: approximately 8–10 minutes
What is the Apple version of Resident Evil 3?
This is a port of Capcom’s 2020 remake of the 1999 game Resident Evil 3: Nemesis. It follows Jill Valentine through the destruction of Raccoon City as Umbrella deploys Nemesis to eliminate her. Carlos Oliveira and the U.B.C.S. also play important roles, with some sections making Carlos playable.
The remake uses Capcom’s RE Engine and includes its modernized presentation, revised environments, and Perfect Dodge mechanic. It is not a new remake made specifically for mobile devices, nor is it the original 1999 campaign.
Controls: touch, Auto Fire, and gamepads
iPhone and iPad versions include customizable touch controls. Capcom also added an Auto Fire option: after aiming at an enemy for a short time, the weapon can fire automatically.
Controllers are supported across iPhone, iPad, and Mac, and Capcom recommends using one because the game was designed around controller input. A PlayStation DualSense or Xbox Wireless Controller is a practical choice for iPad and Mac. A phone-mounted controller such as the Backbone One is more convenient for handheld iPhone play, but it is not a solution for iPad or Mac gaming.

Does Resident Evil 3 support cross-progression?
Yes. Save data can be uploaded and downloaded between supported iPhone, iPad, and Mac versions, allowing you to continue on another Apple device. This is cross-progression, not multiplayer cross-play. The sources do not present the game as a multiplayer title.
For save transfer to work, use the same Apple Account on both devices, upload the save from the original device, and connect both devices to the internet while setting up the destination device. Make sure the game is updated and that its initial setup is complete before looking for the transferred save.
Is it a universal purchase?
The Apple release is presented as a universal purchase, meaning one purchase is intended to provide access across compatible Apple devices associated with the purchasing Apple Account. However, the App Store listing says the in-app purchase cannot be shared with Family Sharing members.

A network connection is required when starting the application. Launch the game once while online and complete any additional download or license check before relying on it away from a network.
That requirement does not establish that every part of the campaign needs a continuous connection, so it is more accurate to say that startup connectivity is required rather than promising fully offline play.

Common problems and fixes
The game will not install
- Open the App Store compatibility section and confirm the device chip and operating system.
- Update to iOS/iPadOS 17 or later, or macOS 13 or later where supported.
- Free substantially more storage than the visible package size suggests; around 60GB or more is a safer target.
- Use a stable Wi-Fi connection and restart the download if additional game data does not begin downloading.
Regional availability or an Apple Account issue can also prevent installation.

Connect to the internet, launch the application, and complete the startup check or any pending content download. Do not assume that repeatedly opening the app offline will bypass the requirement.
A save is missing on another device
Confirm that both devices use the same Apple Account, that the original device uploaded the save, and that both devices were online during transfer. Update the game on both devices and finish the destination device’s initial setup before checking again.
Touch controls are uncomfortable
Rearrange the customizable touch layout, try Auto Fire, or pair a compatible controller. For longer sessions, a separate Bluetooth controller is generally the more flexible option for iPad and Mac, while a phone-mounted controller is better suited to iPhone play.
Who should download Resident Evil 3?
This is a strong fit for owners of a supported iPhone, M-series or A17 Pro iPad, or M1-or-newer Mac who want the 2020 remake in a portable format. It is especially useful if you already switch between Apple devices, since save transfer lets you continue across them.
