The current PlayStation and Nintendo synopses describe the remake’s starting situation as follows: three months have passed since the biological disaster in Raccoon City. Claire, who survived that disaster alongside Leon S. Kennedy and Sherry Birkin, travels to France searching for Chris. Umbrella special forces capture her and take her to Rockfort Island after another biological disaster. This is the remake’s officially stated premise; it should not be used as proof that every detail will match the 2000 release.

Chris Redfield
Chris is Claire’s brother and the other original-game protagonist. His playable section arrives in the latter half, according to PlayStation’s retrospective. The sibling connection is therefore a practical story mechanism: Chris’s actions continue and broaden the investigation that Claire begins.
