Spoilers: Resident Evil Requiem has two main campaign endings, decided by Grace at the Elpis terminal in the ARK: Destroy Elpis or Release Elpis. Destroy leads to a brief, bleak outcome; Release opens the longer resolution, including a final boss fight and more story scenes. The ending guides cited here do not identify a separate secret ending.
How many endings does Resident Evil Requiem have?
The campaign has two main outcomes, determined by Grace’s final choice at the ARK’s Elpis terminal. The choice is not a puzzle or a hidden-objective reward: select Destroy Elpis or Release Elpis to see the corresponding ending. GameSpot and Vandal both describe the two-outcome structure.
Where do you make the ending choice?
Grace makes the decision at the Elpis terminal in the ARK, late in the campaign. Vandal places it at the end of Chapter 16. GameSpot describes the approach as the final area after a sequence in which Leon waits for an elevator, and identifies it as the last point of no return before the decision.
How to get both endings in one playthrough
- Make a backup save before the final approach. GameSpot recommends a manual save before the final sequence so you have a fallback if you want to replay the choice.
- Choose either option at the Elpis terminal. Complete the resulting ending.
- Use the game’s return option to revisit the decision. Vandal reports that after an ending, the game returns the player to just before the choice; GameSpot also describes a system-generated autosave/reload prompt around it. Save prompts and behavior can change with updates, so the manual save is a prudent backup rather than a substitute for checking the in-game prompt.
- Select the other option. The alternate choice lets you view the second campaign outcome without replaying the full game, according to Vandal.
What happens if you Destroy Elpis?
Destroy leads to the shorter and more tragic ending. Zeno overpowers Leon, who is already suffering from Raccoon City Syndrome, and shoots him. Grace escapes as the ARK collapses, but is left distraught. PC Gamer also describes Leon’s death and Grace’s escape.

- For the first time ever in Resident Evil history, players will be able to freely switch between both first- and third-person perspectives throughout the game.
- An Anniversary to Remember: With March 2026 marking the Resident Evil series’ 30-year anniversary, Resident Evil Requiem marks its own milestone in the franchise.
- Pre-orders for Resident Evil Requiem are now open, with the bonus of Grace’s costume: Apocalypse. Please note that the picture weapon does not come with the costume, but it can be obtained in-game.
GameSpot reports that this outcome does not grant a trophy or achievement. It also describes a post-credits prompt that can return the player to the choice.
What happens if you Release Elpis?
Release reveals that Elpis is an antiviral cure. Grace gives it to Leon, who recovers enough to fight Victor Gideon after Gideon turns on Zeno. This route includes the final boss battle, the escape, character-resolution scenes, an epilogue, and post-credits material.

Is there a secret ending?
The ending guides cited here describe two main outcomes, both reached through the Destroy-or-Release decision. They do not document a third ending unlocked by collectibles, New Game Plus, hidden objectives, or another secret condition. Release is the longer, fuller route, but the sources do not establish a separate secret ending.

Which Resident Evil Requiem ending is canon?
PC Gamer reports that director Koshi Nakanishi confirmed the “good” ending is canon. That establishes the reported status of the ending, but not what any future game will do with its characters.
In a separate discussion of Leon’s closing scene, Nakanishi said: “The answer will become clear some day, but not just yet. What we wanted to convey in the final scene is simple: Leon now has a ‘place to go home to’, and we hope you can imagine the peaceful moments he spends there.” The comment does not identify Leon’s spouse.
