The Pro is the feature-rich console option, but it does not win every metric: reporting on Digital Foundry’s analysis says its 120 Hz mode is less consistent, often dropping into the 90s. The available coverage does not establish a controlled performance ranking across every platform.
What are the PS5 Pro performance options?
Notebookcheck’s February 26, 2026 summary of Digital Foundry’s analysis describes two PS5 Pro modes:
| # | Preview | Product | Price | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 |
|
PlayStation 5 Pro with 2TB SSD Storage, Console Only - PS5 Pro Gaming System, White (Renewed) | $1,499.49 | Buy on Amazon |
| 2 |
|
PlayStation 5 Pro with 2TB SSD Storage, Console Only - PS5 Pro Gaming System, White | $1,494.99 | Buy on Amazon |
| Mode | Visual features | Reported performance |
|---|---|---|
| 60 fps mode | Ray tracing enabled | Reported as holding steady around its target, with slight dips in complex scenes. |
| Higher-refresh mode | Ray tracing disabled; intended for 120 Hz displays | Reported as less consistent, often falling into the 90s, with some loss of image stability and detail. |
These are summaries of Digital Foundry’s analysis, not independent measurements. A 120 Hz target is not a promise of a locked 120 fps: the reported results make the higher-refresh mode a trade-off rather than an across-the-board upgrade. Notebookcheck’s page shows an October 5, 2026 update, but the performance details remain summaries of the original analysis.
What does PS5 Pro add to the image?
Sony says Requiem is the first game to use its more advanced PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) upscaling. PlayStation’s February 27, 2026 post says the technology helps maintain frame rate and image quality. Capcom’s Masaru Ijuin, Senior Manager, Engine Development Support Section, R&D Foundational Technology Department, described its role this way: “The upgraded PSSR has allowed us to elevate our expressiveness by successfully processing these details and textural particularities, which are traditionally difficult to upscale because of their intricacy.” This is a statement about the technology’s purpose and presentation, not a comparative benchmark.

How does PS5 Pro compare with other consoles?
The cited coverage characterizes Xbox Series X as broadly comparable to base PS5 while pointing to the Pro’s additional image-quality options. Windows Central’s reviewer also reports smooth 60 fps on their Xbox Series X review system. Those observations do not provide a consistent, controlled comparison of all platforms, so they cannot support a universal claim that the Pro runs the game better in every respect.
| Platform | What the cited coverage establishes |
|---|---|
| PS5 Pro | Reported 60 fps ray-tracing mode and a separate higher-refresh mode without ray tracing. |
| PS5 | Xbox Series X is described as broadly comparable to base PS5; no complete controlled comparison is supplied. |
| Xbox Series X | Windows Central reports smooth 60 fps on its review system; this is not a cross-platform benchmark. |
| Xbox Series S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC | Confirmed as release platforms; the cited coverage does not establish comparable performance figures for these versions. |
Capcom lists PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC as platforms. Requiem is not exclusive to PS5 Pro.
Which PS5 Pro mode should you choose?
Choose the 60 fps mode for ray tracing
If you prefer ray-traced lighting and a steadier performance target, the 60 fps mode is the clearer fit based on the reported analysis. It is still described as having slight dips in complex scenes, rather than being perfectly locked in every moment.
Choose higher refresh for a faster-feeling image
The higher-refresh option makes sense if you have a 120 Hz display and prioritize responsiveness or smoother motion over ray tracing. The reported drops into the 90s mean you should not expect it to hold 120 fps throughout.

The cited material does not establish whether variable refresh rate (VRR) changes the experience, or whether later game patches altered performance. Display support alone cannot settle those questions.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Is the PS5 Pro version worth choosing?
For someone who already owns a PS5 Pro, Requiem offers meaningful options: ray tracing at a 60 fps target, a separate higher-refresh mode, and support for Sony’s more advanced PSSR. Whether those options matter depends on your preference for lighting effects versus higher refresh. The evidence here does not show that the Pro is categorically superior to every console version, nor does it justify buying a Pro solely for this game without weighing those trade-offs and the cost of the hardware.
Release date and performance-version context
Capcom lists February 27, 2026 as Requiem’s release date. On March 4, 2026, the company announced that worldwide sales had surpassed five million units. The technical coverage discussed above dates to February 26, 2026; the available sources do not confirm whether later patches changed rendering or frame rates.
