Retro Remake appears to be developing an FPGA-based SNES device, but it has only teased the project—not announced a finished console. The regional news is a statement from co-founder Taki Udon that the design will account for multiple regions; it does not yet confirm specific shells, game compatibility, or sales outside the United States.
What has Retro Remake teased?
On October 8, 2026, Time Extension reported that Retro Remake co-founder Taki Udon had teased what appears to be an FPGA SNES console. The report associates the project with the codename “SSNT/SuperFPGA.” Its teaser showed an SNES reset button alongside Udon’s caption, “It’s time to run it back.” Time Extension’s report describes a likely console, not a formally announced product with a confirmed name or specification.

What does “all regions covered” mean?
In a reported exchange, a reader asked that the device not look like the American SNES. Udon responded with an image of a PAL/Japanese SNES reset button and wrote, “Don’t worry, we have all regions covered,” according to Time Extension.

That is evidence of an intention to account for different regional console designs, which matters to collectors and players who prefer the appearance of a PAL SNES or Super Famicom. It does not confirm which versions will actually be manufactured. Nor does the statement establish where the device will be sold, whether it will play games from different regions, or what shipping options will be offered. A promise to cover regional designs should not be read as a guarantee of international availability.

- DUAL FPGA OPTIONS: 60K or 138K LUT Gowin FPGA, supports retro game cores such as NES, SNES, GB, GBC, GBA, MD and Amiga.
- Mini and quiet: only 65 x 56 mm (half size of MiSTer), 5W power consumption, fanless operation for silent use.
- Versatile connections: HDMI output, 2 x USB 3.0 for controller, 2 x USB 2.0 Type-C, TF card slot, 3.5 mm audio.
- 138K WITH RISC-V: 138K version integrates 800MHz RISC-V AE350 hardcore, 1GB DDR3, supports more game cores and applications.
- Developer friendly: 2 x 40 pin GPIO + 2 x PMOD, PCIe Gen3 x1, RGB LCD connection, optional battery, supports own FPGA designs.
What is still unknown?
The teaser and reported regional-design statement do not establish the product’s final name, hardware specifications, cartridge support, video outputs, price, preorder date, release date, retailer, or country-by-country availability. Those details remain open until Retro Remake makes an official product announcement.
That distinction is important because “FPGA SNES” alone does not answer practical questions buyers may have: whether original cartridges will work, which video connections are available, or whether a particular regional design will be sold in their country. There is not enough published information to compare the teased device on those points.

How it relates to existing FPGA consoles
Retro Remake already sells or presents another FPGA-related system, the SuperStation One. Its official page describes a MiSTer FPGA-compatible product with HDMI, VGA, DIN10, composite, and component video output options. Those are specifications for the SuperStation One, a separate product; they should not be attributed to the teased SNES device.
Analogue’s Super Nt technical specifications provide a reference point for an existing FPGA console that supports SNES and Super Famicom cartridges. The document is older and does not establish whether the Super Nt is currently available, what it costs now, or what stock remains. It also does not tell us how Retro Remake’s teased system will work.

Once Retro Remake publishes specifications, a useful comparison will need confirmed details about regional designs, physical-cartridge support and compatibility, video outputs, price and availability by region, and launch timing. Until then, any feature-by-feature verdict would be guesswork.
