Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics brings together six Marvel- and Capcom-themed fighting games and the beat ’em up THE PUNISHER, then adds online modes, training aids, save states, and archival extras. That makes it a broad package for players interested in the arcade lineage and its many variations. Capcom’s feature lists establish what is included; they do not establish how responsive the games feel, how active matchmaking is, or whether the collection is worth its price to a particular player.

What games are included?

The collection contains seven arcade games: six fighters and one side-scrolling beat ’em up, according to Capcom’s FAQ and its product listing.

  • X-MEN CHILDREN OF THE ATOM
  • MARVEL SUPER HEROES
  • X-MEN VS. STREET FIGHTER
  • MARVEL SUPER HEROES vs. STREET FIGHTER
  • MARVEL vs. CAPCOM CLASH OF SUPER HEROES
  • MARVEL vs. CAPCOM 2 New Age of Heroes
  • THE PUNISHER

THE PUNISHER is the lineup’s outlier: it is a cooperative beat ’em up rather than a fighter. Nintendo describes it as the game that began Capcom and Marvel’s partnership in games in its collection overview. The other six games trace different points in the arcade-fighting series, from solo Marvel and X-Men titles to team-based crossovers.

What modern features does the collection add?

Capcom lists training tools that display inputs, hit boxes, and damage numbers, plus adjustable single-player difficulty, customizable button layouts, display filters, and one-button specials. Single-player content can be paused, and the collection includes per-game challenges and save/load functionality. These are advertised features, not a guarantee of how useful each tool will feel in practice.

Beginners and first timers into the franchise are also welcome to play through adjusted settings and execution of one-button specials!
  • Play with Friends Worldwide through Online Compatibility – This collection also includes rollback net code for a smooth and enjoyable experience online. Play casually or competitively through casual, ranked, or custom matches using rules of your choosing!

Online matches and co-op

Capcom lists casual and ranked online matches, custom lobbies, spectating, rollback netcode, and high-score challenges. Nintendo’s feature summary specifies casual, ranked, and custom matches for the fighting games, as well as online co-op and spectating for THE PUNISHER. Nintendo also says ranked matches do not allow one-button specials. Both companies describe rollback netcode as a feature; the feature listing alone cannot establish the quality of a player’s connection or matchmaking experience.

Art and music

Capcom says the collection contains more than 500 pieces of artwork, including material from all seven games and previously unseen development documents, as well as more than 200 music tracks. These are Capcom’s published counts, not independently verified totals. The gallery and music playback make the package relevant to fans who want archival material alongside the games.

Which platform should you choose?

Capcom says the basic game content is the same across platform versions, with partial differences tied to hardware and controller specifications. The most consequential difference for groups of friends is that online play is not cross-platform: Capcom’s FAQ says players can only play online with others on the same platform.

Platform Display or control details Online requirements
Nintendo Switch Capcom lists output up to 1080p in TV mode and 720p in handheld mode. Nintendo says online features require an internet connection, a Nintendo Account, and a Nintendo Switch Online membership.
PlayStation 4 Capcom lists output at 1080p. Online play is limited to players on the same platform, per Capcom’s FAQ.
Steam Capcom lists resolution settings up to 2160p, subject to graphics hardware. Mouse and keyboard are supported; Capcom recommends an XInput-compatible controller. Online play is limited to players on the same platform, per Capcom’s FAQ.

Capcom’s FAQ does not specify a separate online subscription requirement for PS4 or Steam, so none is listed here. For the best fit, check which platform your intended opponents use first; then consider whether you primarily play on a television, a handheld screen, or a PC setup.

What should PC players know?

The Steam and Capcom listings specify Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit), 4 GB of RAM, 4 GB of storage, DirectX 11, and broadband internet as minimum requirements. The listed minimum processor is an Intel Core i5-3470 or AMD FX-6100, and the graphics requirement is a GeForce GTX 470 or Radeon R7 260x class card. These are vendor specifications, not evidence that every PC meeting them will deliver the same performance.

A controller is optional rather than mandatory: Capcom recommends an XInput-compatible controller, while its FAQ confirms that Steam supports mouse and keyboard controls. The Steam product page lists the PC release.

Are the arcade versions identical across regions?

Capcom says regional releases contain the same game content, but players can switch the ROM version for each arcade title. Japanese and English ROMs have some differences, including character names or availability in some games, so the versions should not be described as identical. Capcom’s FAQ lists Japanese, English, French, Italian, German, Spanish (Spain), Spanish (Mexico), Korean, Polish, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, and Arabic among the supported languages.

Does the collection’s post-launch history matter?

Capcom announced an update for April 16, 2025, describing additional artwork, remix tracks, and quality-of-life additions in its Title Update Trailer. That announcement is dated; it does not, by itself, confirm the contents of the latest version. Players who want to know exactly what is currently available should check the platform’s update notes.
