At $39.99 from Atari (listed for October 15, 2026), it is compelling for collectors and families who want local co-op; it is less persuasive if you only want one modern 3D adventure or have little patience for retro-era controls and difficulty.
What is included in the Xbox double pack?
The package combines Toy Story: Retro Roundup! with Toy Story 3 Complete Edition. Xbox describes Retro Roundup as 11 classic game versions spanning home consoles and handhelds. Atari’s breakdown shows that those versions come from five games:

| Game | Versions included |
|---|---|
| Toy Story (1995) | Sega Genesis, Super NES, Game Boy |
| Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue! (1999) | PlayStation 1 |
| Toy Story 2 (1999) | Game Boy Color |
| Buzz Lightyear of Star Command (2000) | PlayStation 1, Game Boy Color |
| Toy Story Racer (2001) | PlayStation 1, Game Boy Color |
| A Bug’s Life (1998) | PlayStation 1, Game Boy Color |
That is an important distinction: Retro Roundup is not five remakes. It is a curated archive of original game versions, including the unexpected addition of A Bug’s Life. Atari also includes behind-the-scenes videos, a virtual museum, rare design documents and development photography.
Retro Roundup is strongest as an archive
The collection’s appeal is its range. Xbox players receive versions that have not previously been available on the platform, while the museum-style material gives context to games that might otherwise feel like isolated ROM-style curiosities. The package includes artwork, recreated box art, developer photographs, documentary videos, soundtrack listening and visual filters. Practice Mode is particularly useful: a walkthrough video can move directly into the relevant game, making it easier to understand an unfamiliar stage or mechanic.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
The preservation comes with period-authentic friction. The games retain awkward camera behavior, demanding difficulty and other design conventions associated with the 1990s and early 2000s. Visual filters and higher-resolution rendering can make presentation cleaner, but they do not turn these releases into modern remakes. Expect trial and error, abrupt challenge spikes and controls that may require adjustment.
Toy Story 3 Complete Edition remains the accessible half
Toy Story 3 Complete Edition is a modern-console presentation of the 2010 movie tie-in rather than a wholesale redesign. Story Mode recreates film-inspired sequences including the train rescue, Operation Playtime and the junkyard. Woody, Buzz and Jessie are playable, and each character brings different abilities.

How much better is Toy Story 3 on current Xbox hardware?
The underlying design is largely the same 2010 game, but the Complete Edition benefits from higher resolutions, smoother frame rates and modern lighting. On Xbox Series X, the review observed apparent 60 FPS operation, which makes movement and combat feel more responsive than the original console release.
There are limits to the upgrade. Cutscenes remain low resolution, and Toy Box environments still pause briefly for loading. Those compromises are noticeable beside the improved gameplay rendering, so this should be viewed as performance-focused preservation rather than a full visual remake.

Bundle or Toy Story 3 by itself?
| Option | Price cited | Best for | What you receive |
|---|---|---|---|
| Double pack | $39.99 from Atari, listed for October 15, 2026 | Collectors, families and players wanting the complete package | 11 Retro Roundup versions, archival extras and Toy Story 3 Complete Edition |
| Toy Story 3 Complete Edition alone | $24.99 from Atari; separate Xbox pricing reported at $24.99–$29.99 depending on storefront | Players focused on the 3D adventure and co-op | Story Mode, Toy Box Mode, added content and current-console enhancements |
At the cited prices, the bundle costs about $15 more than Atari’s standalone listing and adds an entire multi-game archive plus its historical material. Buy separately when you specifically want Toy Story 3 and do not expect to play the older titles. Choose the double pack when the museum content, multiple versions or the chance to explore Toy Story’s wider game history matters to you; the added breadth is the reason for the premium.

- Buy Toy Story 3 alone if you want the most immediately playable experience and care mainly about Story Mode, Toy Box and two-player sessions.
- Wait or skip if dated cameras, demanding platforming and loading pauses are deal-breakers.
Final review
This is a thoughtfully assembled trip through Toy Story’s gaming history. Retro Roundup provides unusual breadth and unusually strong context through its museum, videos, documents and photographs, while Toy Story 3 supplies the approachable modern-console anchor. The package does not erase the rough edges of the older games or disguise its 2010-era cutscenes and loading, but it preserves both eras honestly and adds meaningful Xbox conveniences. Pure Xbox rated the combined release 8/10 in 2026, a fair reflection of a collection whose value depends on embracing preservation rather than expecting wholesale modernization.
