What happened with the apparent leak?
On September 17, 2025, Engadget and GamesRadar reported that a Yakuza Kiwami 3 entry had briefly appeared in a category area on Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio’s Japanese website and was later removed. That is the reported sequence; no preserved statement from RGG or SEGA confirms the exact cause of the listing or its removal. Engadget’s report and GamesRadar’s report covered the discovery.

What did SEGA announce?
SEGA formally announced Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties on September 24, 2025. The company described it as two games in one: a reimagining of Yakuza 3 (2009) and a new story, Dark Ties. SEGA’s announcement says the new story follows Yoshitaka Mine’s journey from startup founder into the yakuza world.
The Yakuza Kiwami 3 portion updates the original game with more intense battles, refreshed depictions of Tokyo and Okinawa, additional cutscenes, and minigames. SEGA’s official game site describes two fighting styles for Kiryu—Dragon of Dojima and Ryukyu—and activities at the Morning Glory orphanage. The official game site has further details.

SEGA announced February 12, 2026 as the release date. The official game site currently lists the title as “AVAILABLE NOW.” SEGA’s announcement and the game site provide those status details.
SEGA announced versions for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam.
