If riaui27.dll is missing or cannot be loaded, repair or reinstall the Ricoh printer-driver package that installed it rather than downloading the DLL separately. The file is identified as a Ricoh PCL Unidrv Printer Driver UI Plugin, so the safest fix is to reconnect the correct printer driver or remove the obsolete printer reference.
What this file actually does
riaui27.dll is associated with Ricoh’s PCL Unidrv printer-driver UI component. It is a driver file, not a general Windows runtime, Microsoft Visual C++ component, DirectX file, or .NET library.
Windows may stage printer-driver files inside the Driver Store or place them in a driver installation directory. That does not make riaui27.dll a core Windows DLL. There is no reliable evidence that it should be downloaded or copied manually into System32, SysWOW64, or an application folder.
Public file records identify the file with Ricoh, but current Ricoh documentation does not generally list riaui27.dll as a separately downloadable component. Reported historical sizes, paths, versions, hashes, and architecture labels also vary, so do not use those details to select a replacement file.

A 32-bit printer component can still be invoked on 64-bit Windows. The correct replacement is therefore determined by the printer model, Windows version, driver generation, and architecture, not by the filename alone.

The wording alone does not identify the program that is loading the file. A print queue, printer-monitor utility, setup program, or stale scheduled task may be responsible.
Fix 1: Reinstall the exact Ricoh printer driver
This is the most reliable fix when the error appears during printing, printer setup, login, or Windows startup.
- Identify the printer model from the printer label, an existing queue, or your organization’s printer inventory.
- Open Settings.
- Select Bluetooth & devices in Windows 11, or Devices in Windows 10.
- Select Printers & scanners.
- Select the affected Ricoh printer and choose Remove.
- Confirm the removal.
- Download the driver for the exact model from Ricoh’s official support site. Select the Windows version and the appropriate PCL 6 or model-specific package.
- If the download offers both x86 and x64 packages, match the package to the component being installed. On ordinary 64-bit Windows installations, use the x64 package unless the printer documentation or existing application specifically requires a 32-bit driver.
- Run the Ricoh installer as an administrator.
- Select the correct connection type, such as network, USB, or an existing TCP/IP port.
- Complete the installation and restart Windows.
Test by opening Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners, selecting the printer, and printing a test page. If the test page prints without the DLL message, the repair worked.

Fix 2: Remove the stale printer queue and driver
A printer can disappear from the Settings interface while its queue or driver remains installed. That leftover reference may continue trying to load riaui27.dll.
Remove the queue
- Open Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
- Select any old Ricoh printer.
- Choose Remove.
- Repeat for duplicate or obsolete Ricoh queues.
On Windows 10, use Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners.

Then open Control Panel:
- Press Windows key + R.
- Type
control printers. - Press Enter.
- Right-click an obsolete Ricoh printer and select Remove device.
Remove the driver package
- Press Windows key + R.
- Type
printui /s /t2. - Press Enter.
- Select the Drivers tab.
- Select the old Ricoh driver.
- Choose Remove.
- Select Remove driver and driver package when Windows offers that choice.
- Restart the computer.
- Install the current Ricoh driver.
If the driver is not listed, do not remove unrelated printer drivers simply because their names look similar.

Use PnPUtil only after identifying the package
For advanced cleanup, open Terminal, Command Prompt, or PowerShell as administrator:
pnputil /enum-drivers
Review the output and identify the Ricoh-related published name, such as oemXX.inf. Only after verifying that it belongs to the obsolete Ricoh package should you run:
pnputil /delete-driver oemXX.inf /uninstall
Replace oemXX.inf with the actual published name. Do not guess this value. PnPUtil modifies the Driver Store and removing the wrong package can disable another device.

Fix 3: Check antivirus quarantine
If the error began immediately after a security scan, Windows Security may have quarantined the driver file.
- Open Windows Security from the Start menu.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Review recent detections involving the Ricoh driver directory or printer installation.
- Do not restore the file solely because its filename looks familiar.
- If the file came from the official Ricoh installer and its location and signature are trustworthy, follow your organization’s security policy before restoring it.
- Otherwise, leave it quarantined and reinstall the complete driver from Ricoh.

A clean reinstall is usually safer than restoring an isolated DLL. If the replacement is detected again, stop reinstalling and have the file and installer reviewed by your security administrator.
Fix 4: Repair Windows components
Use Windows repair commands when printer installation fails alongside other Windows servicing problems. These commands do not replace a missing Ricoh driver package.

- Open the Start menu.
- Search for Command Prompt.
- Right-click it and select Run as administrator.
- Run this command:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Wait for it to finish.
- Run the second command separately:
sfc /scannow
- Wait until the scan reaches 100 percent.
- Restart Windows.
- Reinstall the Ricoh printer driver.
DISM repairs the Windows component store. SFC checks protected Windows system files. Microsoft provides the command sequence in its DISM and SFC guidance.
DISM /RestoreHealth is not available in the same way on Windows 7, so do not treat this command as universal for older systems. If SFC reports files it could not repair, review the result, install pending Windows updates, restart, and run the scan again. If the printer error remains but Windows repairs successfully, return to the Ricoh driver installation rather than repeatedly running SFC.

Fix 5: Check startup programs and scheduled tasks
If printing works but the message appears every time Windows starts, an old Ricoh utility may be launching independently.
- Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
- Select Startup apps.
- Look for an obsolete Ricoh monitor, status utility, or printer helper.
- Right-click the entry and select Disable.
- Restart Windows.
For scheduled tasks:
- Open the Start menu.
- Search for Task Scheduler.
- Open Task Scheduler Library.
- Review tasks that mention Ricoh, printer monitoring, or a removed device.
- Select a task and inspect its Actions tab.
- Confirm the executable path before disabling anything.
- Disable only a task that clearly belongs to the obsolete printer software.
- Restart and test.
If the error disappears, uninstall the obsolete Ricoh utility through Settings > Apps > Installed apps in Windows 11 or Settings > Apps > Apps & features in Windows 10.
Fix 6: Check Windows Features only for print-service problems
Windows Features will not normally restore riaui27.dll, but a damaged or disabled print service can prevent a correct driver installation.
- Press Windows key + R.
- Type
optionalfeatures. - Press Enter.
- Review Print and Document Services.
- Do not enable random subfeatures to obtain the DLL.
- If your organization requires a specific print service, enable only that documented feature.
- Select OK and restart if Windows requests it.
Also verify the Print Spooler:
- Press Windows key + R.
- Type
services.msc. - Press Enter.
- Find Print Spooler.
- Right-click it and select Restart.
- Try the Ricoh installation again.
Do not use regsvr32 for this file
regsvr32 is intended for DLLs that expose registration functions such as DllRegisterServer. riaui27.dll is identified as a printer-driver UI plugin, not as a COM or ActiveX component.

It may produce an entry-point error and does not repair a missing dependency, stale queue, incompatible driver, or incomplete printer installation. Microsoft describes the command’s proper purpose in its regsvr32 documentation.

Advanced checks when the error remains
If reinstalling the driver does not help:
- Note the exact error wording.
- Check whether the named path belongs to a Ricoh driver directory.
- Open Event Viewer and inspect Windows Logs > Application around the time of the error.
- Identify the executable named in the event.
- Check whether that executable belongs to a current printer installation.
- If the DLL exists but Windows reports a missing module, suspect a dependency rather than the named file itself.
- If the file is in a temporary or user-writable folder, scan the system before restoring anything.
- Test with a new Windows user profile if the error affects only one account.
If the problem clearly began after a driver or Windows update, use System Restore if a suitable restore point exists. It can reverse installed programs and system settings, so review the affected items before confirming. Microsoft explains the process in its System Restore guidance.
On supported Windows 11 systems, a final repair option is Settings > System > Recovery > Fix problems using Windows Update > Reinstall now. This reinstalls the current Windows version while preserving apps, files, and settings. Use it only after identifying that the failure extends beyond the Ricoh driver.

Remove old printer queues and Ricoh driver packages. Then inspect Startup apps, Task Scheduler, and Event Viewer to identify what is still attempting to load the DLL.
Is a 32-bit replacement acceptable on 64-bit Windows?
Only if the component that loads it is designed for 32-bit operation and the official printer package supplies that file. Do not select a replacement based on filename or size.
What if the message says “entry point not found”?
