If your controller is not detected in Riders Republic, inputs are missing, keyboard prompts keep returning, or the camera moves on its own, start with the game’s controller settings and then check whether the problem follows the controller to other games. Ubisoft documents remapping, presets, sensitivity, and stick dead zones; PC input-layer conflicts are a possible cause, but community reports do not establish a universal fix.
Check the controller preset and button mapping
In Riders Republic, open Options > Controller > Controller Mapping. Ubisoft Help says you can choose the Racer, Steep, or Trickster preset and change individual controls. Select the preset you want, then review the mapping for missing or unexpected inputs. Ubisoft’s control-customization guide documents this menu route.
If the controller is detected but buttons do the wrong thing, correct the mapping before changing other settings. Change one setting at a time and check whether the expected input returns.
Adjust dead zone and camera sensitivity for unwanted movement
Open Options > Controller and look for the stick dead-zone and camera-sensitivity controls. Ubisoft explains that a smaller dead zone makes a stick more sensitive to input. For a camera that moves from slight, unintended stick readings, try increasing the dead zone in small increments and check the result; then set sensitivity to a level that feels comfortable. Ubisoft’s accessibility overview confirms these settings are available.

A larger dead zone is a troubleshooting test, not a repair for a worn or damaged stick. If the camera still moves, test the controller outside the game before assuming the game or the hardware is at fault.
On PC, test one controller input path at a time
If the controller appears and disappears, the game switches between controller and keyboard prompts, or buttons are duplicated or missing, overlapping input software may be involved. Community discussions describe conflicts involving Steam settings and other programs that handle controllers, but these reports are anecdotal and may not reflect current launcher behavior. They are not an official or guaranteed fix. A Steam Community discussion and another discussion about controller behavior after an update describe such issues.

- Close controller remappers or other software that may handle the same device, then launch the game and test it.
- If the issue continues, test the launcher’s controller-input settings with other controller-handling layers disabled. Change only one setting at a time.
- Restart the game between tests so you can tell which change affected detection or prompts.
If the controller works in other games but not in Riders Republic, focus on the game’s mapping and sensitivity settings and the PC input path. The community reports do not show that deleting or reinstalling the game is a reliable first step.
Find out whether the problem follows the controller
Test the same controller in another game or with a controller tester, leaving the stick untouched. If it registers movement elsewhere too, consult the controller manufacturer’s calibration and support guidance and check any applicable warranty. If the movement occurs only in Riders Republic, return to its dead-zone, sensitivity, mapping, and—on PC—input-layer checks. These tests help distinguish possibilities; they do not diagnose a specific controller on their own.

Check device compatibility and report a reproducible issue
For platform-specific compatibility, consult Ubisoft’s supported-peripherals page for the current platform list. Do not assume a particular controller model is supported on every platform based on its support in another game.
If a problem persists and you can reproduce it, Ubisoft lists Riders Republic among games with a dedicated bug-reporting tool. Record the platform, what you expected to happen, the steps that trigger the issue, when it occurs, any workaround, and supporting images or video.
