Console steps differ, so use the instructions for your platform and account before reinstalling or buying the expansion again.
Start by identifying what is missing
Seekers of the Storm is downloadable content for Risk of Rain 2; the Steam listing requires the base game on Steam. A missing expansion can mean three different things: the signed-in account lacks the license, the account owns it but the DLC is not installed, or the license and installation are present but the game is not displaying the content correctly. Check those in order so you do not mistake a game-file problem for a purchase problem.

- Ownership: Does the platform show the expansion on the account that is currently signed in?
- Installation: If owned, does the platform show the add-on as installed?
- In-game access: If both checks pass, use the platform-specific repair steps below.
The official Steam listing also explains a multiplayer wrinkle: one lobby member’s ownership can enable the expansion for the lobby, but players without ownership cannot select its new survivors or permanently unlock its expansion content. Seeing some of that content in a shared run does not prove that your own account owns the DLC.
Steam: check ownership and installation first
Inspect the DLC tab
- Sign in to the Steam account that bought the expansion.
- Open Library, right-click Risk of Rain 2, and choose Properties.
- Open DLC. Check whether Seekers of the Storm is listed and whether it is installed or available to install.
Valve’s Steamworks DLC documentation says a DLC that does not appear in the game’s DLC tab is not owned by that account. If it appears but is not installed, use the tab’s controls to install or manage it. Steam generally installs owned DLC with a game, but some DLC can be configured for manual or on-demand installation. Steam Support likewise describes the Library’s DLC controls as the place to check owned add-ons and installation status: Find Downloadable Content (DLC) for My Games.

If the DLC is owned and installed but still missing in-game
2K’s Risk of Rain 2 technical troubleshooting guide recommends removing mods and verifying game files for Steam players. Try those after confirming the license and installation. File verification checks the game’s files; it is not a substitute for checking DLC ownership.
- Temporarily remove or disable mods, then launch the game and check whether the expansion appears.
- In Steam, open Library > Risk of Rain 2 > Properties > Installed Files, then choose Verify integrity of game files. Steam will check and replace damaged or missing game files as needed.
- If the problem remains, reinstall the DLC first. 2K’s sequence is to try reinstalling the DLC before uninstalling and reinstalling the full game and all DLC.
PlayStation: verify the account and console license
Confirm that the PlayStation account showing the purchase is the account being used, and check the transaction or add-on listing before reinstalling. 2K directs PlayStation players to verify their console licenses; follow the current instructions for your console and account, since menus can change. The PlayStation Store listing is for the US store and describes access on the account’s primary PS5 and other PS5 consoles when signed into that account. It does not establish cross-generation entitlement rules, so check the listing and entitlement for your region and console edition rather than assuming them.

Xbox: refresh the profile and check the add-on
Verify that the Xbox profile signed in is the one that completed the purchase and check the game’s add-on management screen for the installation status. 2K recommends removing and re-adding the Xbox profile as a platform-specific troubleshooting step. Its guide also recommends clearing the console cache, keeping console firmware current, and reinstalling the DLC before reinstalling the full game and all its DLC.

Follow the platform-specific checks before reinstalling everything. 2K recommends trying the DLC reinstall first; if that fails, reinstall the full game and all DLC. These are common troubleshooting steps, not a guarantee of a fix.

If the store shows a completed purchase but the account still lacks the entitlement, contact the platform’s support team to investigate the transaction or license. For a game-specific issue after the platform confirms access, use Gearbox Entertainment Support, which lists Risk of Rain 2 among its supported titles, or follow 2K’s troubleshooting guide. Do not buy the DLC again until you have checked the account, platform version, and purchase history.
