Roblox Error Code 522 usually means the player you tried to follow or join left the game before Roblox finished connecting you. Wait a few seconds and retry, or open the experience and use its regular Play or Join option instead of following that player. A single 522 is not, by itself, evidence that your account, device, or internet connection is broken.
What Roblox Error Code 522 means
The usual message is “Followed user has left the game.” Roblox’s Creator Hub connection-error reference identifies code 522 as PlacelaunchUserLeft, which points to a player leaving during a place launch or join attempt: Roblox Creator Hub: ConnectionError.
This commonly happens when the person you are following leaves, disconnects, changes servers, or the target server closes while your request is in progress. It can be a brief timing issue. The message does not automatically mean you were banned, your account has an authentication problem, or Roblox is down.
Roblox’s current support article listing error codes does not have a dedicated entry for 522. It covers other connection and joining codes and says to contact support if your code is not listed: Roblox Error Codes. The Creator Hub reference is the official Roblox source for the 522 classification.

Try these fixes first
- Wait briefly, then try again. The player may have left just as you sent the join request.
- Join the experience directly. Find the experience on Roblox and use its normal Play or Join control rather than Follow. You may enter a different available server.
- Ask your friend to rejoin and stay in the server. Once they are in, refresh their profile or have them send a new invite.
- Try another public server. The original server may have ended, filled, or become unavailable.
- Refresh Roblox. Close the Roblox client or browser tab, reopen it, and retry. Sign in again if needed.
If 522 keeps happening
First check whether the problem is limited to one friend or one experience. A single failed follow is different from being unable to enter several unrelated experiences. Check Roblox Status for an incident or maintenance notice; a single 522 does not establish a platform outage. - Restart Roblox and your device; restart your router or modem if other network connections are also unreliable.
- If launching from the Roblox website, try another supported browser and clear temporary browser data if the website launch flow appears stuck.
- Test a different network, such as a mobile hotspot where available. If Roblox works there, the issue may involve the original network or its filtering.
- Check whether a firewall, antivirus, parental-control tool, VPN, proxy, or school/work network is blocking Roblox. Do not permanently disable security software; use its settings or ask the network administrator to allow Roblox if appropriate.
- Reinstall Roblox only after simpler steps fail and the client or launcher appears damaged.
Roblox lists firewalls, inconsistent wireless connections, slow connections, browser issues, and corrupted temporary or Roblox files among possible causes of general connection and desktop problems. Those are relevant when failures extend beyond one follow attempt, not proof that they caused a one-off 522: General Connection Problems and General Desktop Roblox Issues.

Platform-specific checks
Windows PC
- Close Roblox completely and reopen it; restart the computer if needed.
- Check Windows Firewall and security software for Roblox blocks, without leaving protection disabled.
- If joining from the website, clear temporary browser data or try another browser.
- Reinstall Roblox only if simpler checks fail and the client or launcher seems corrupted.
Mac
- Quit and reopen Roblox, then restart the Mac if the problem continues.
- Try launching from a different supported browser and check firewall or security software for blocks.
- Consider reinstalling only if the launcher or client appears damaged.
Mobile
- Force-close Roblox and reopen it.
- Switch between Wi-Fi and cellular data if available, then restart the phone or tablet if needed.
- Install any available Roblox update through the device’s official app store.
- Reinstall only if the issue persists and you have the credentials needed to sign back in.
Xbox, PlayStation, and other supported consoles
- Leave Roblox and relaunch it; enter the experience directly rather than following the player.
- Restart the console and test its network connection if several experiences fail.
- Check Roblox Status and the console platform’s network-service status if the wider service is affected.
Roblox 522 versus Cloudflare 522
These are different errors. Roblox’s in-game code 522 is associated with a followed player leaving before the join completes. Cloudflare HTTP 522 means Cloudflare could not establish or complete communication with a website’s origin server. Cloudflare documents causes such as an offline or overloaded origin, blocked Cloudflare IP ranges, an incorrect origin IP, or dropped packets: Cloudflare Error 522.

If you see a Cloudflare-branded timeout webpage rather than Roblox’s in-game join message, changing player settings is unlikely to fix the website’s server problem. Cloudflare advises visitors to report persistent 5xx errors to the site owner; its support is primarily for domain owners: Cloudflare 5xx guidance.

Contact Roblox Support if 522 repeats across unrelated experiences, persists after restarting and testing another network, occurs alongside other connection problems, or comes with account, login, billing, or moderation issues. Also contact support if the displayed message does not match the usual followed-user wording. Since the current support code list does not specifically cover 522, include enough detail for support to identify the situation.

- The approximate date and time, including time zone.
- Whether it happens in one experience or across several.
- A screenshot or screen recording, if available.
