The original third-party FPS Unlocker project still lists v5.2, but its GitHub repository is archived and read-only, and Roblox warns that modified software that changes how its client works can lead to account action.
If you still inspect the archived release, use only the original repository, scan the file yourself, never provide Roblox credentials, and do not assume it is safe, supported, or compatible with the current Roblox client.

Start with Roblox’s built-in 240 FPS setting
Before downloading anything, open Roblox on a Windows PC, join an experience, open the in-game menu with Esc, choose Settings, and set Maximum Frame Rate to the highest option your system and display can use. Roblox’s official performance documentation says the client defaults to 60 FPS but Windows users can raise the limit to 240 FPS. This makes a third-party unlocker unnecessary for many players targeting 120, 144, or 240 FPS. Check Roblox’s current instructions in the Creator Hub performance documentation.
Then press Shift+F5 in the experience. The on-screen counter shows the client’s actual frame rate, which is more useful than judging smoothness by feel. A 240 FPS setting is a ceiling, not a promise that every Roblox experience, computer, or monitor will reach or display 240 frames per second.

What the Roblox FPS Unlocker download usually means
“Roblox FPS Unlocker” usually refers to rbxfpsunlocker, the unofficial Windows utility from the original axstin/rbxfpsunlocker GitHub releases page. It is not made or supported by Roblox.
The original repository is archived and read-only. Its releases page lists v5.2 as the newest release, with release notes covering Hyperion clients, Roblox Studio signatures, and a flags-file method for the Windows Store app. That makes v5.2 the latest listed release of the original project, not a current or guaranteed-compatible Roblox tool. The repository’s archived status means you should not assume that it works with the Roblox client in 2026 or that future client updates will be addressed.
The release page also exposes a VirusTotal scan link. That can be useful as one part of a file check, but the presence of a scan link is not a current safety certification, a guarantee that the file is malware-free, or proof that the program remains compatible with Roblox.
Is the archived unlocker safe to download?

- Confirm that the address is the original
github.com/axstin/rbxfpsunlockerrepository. - Read the release notes and inspect the asset before running it; do not assume an old binary supports the current Roblox client.
- Scan the downloaded file with your security software. Treat any detection, unexpected installer, bundled program, or credential request as a reason not to run it.
- Keep a copy of the official Roblox installer or use Roblox.com and an official app store if you need to restore the client.
- Do not disable Windows security features simply to make an old utility launch.
Roblox’s Terms of Use warn that third-party services may contain viruses, malware, harmful code, or misleading content. Roblox support also advises reinstalling the official Roblox version from Roblox.com or an official app store when modified software is detected.
Account and anti-cheat risk
Roblox’s position is broader than “do not use cheats.” Its anti-cheat guidance says that modified Roblox applications or software that changes how Roblox works are against the rules. Roblox says this type of software can lead to account action, including a temporary suspension and, after repeated violations, a permanent ban.
That does not establish that every person who runs FPS Unlocker will automatically be banned. It does establish a real policy and compatibility risk. A frame-rate utility may be intended only to change rendering behavior, but Roblox’s rule concerns modified software and changes to the way its client works. No third-party guide can promise that an archived release is invisible to Roblox or safe from future anti-cheat changes.
Why old FPS Unlocker instructions are difficult to apply in 2026
The original project’s release notes describe several historical ways of changing the frame-rate limit. These details explain why older guides conflict with one another; they are not a recommendation to modify Roblox files or processes.

The important point is not which old method was theoretically best. It is that the archived project was reacting to particular Roblox client versions, signatures, and protections. A release note from v5.0, v5.1, or v5.2 cannot verify compatibility with the Roblox build you receive in 2026.
What about Bloxstrap?
Bloxstrap is a third-party Windows bootstrapper for Roblox, not an official Roblox product. Its official release page currently lists v2.11.3, dated April 4, 2026, but the project also says it is not under active development.
More importantly, later Bloxstrap release notes say Roblox changes removed the framerate-limit preset and Fast Flag editor for Roblox Player. That means Bloxstrap should not be presented as a current universal FPS-unlocker replacement. Older Bloxstrap guides may still show Fast Flag instructions, but the historical Fast Flags guide itself discusses possible side effects such as crashes or increased network latency, and newer Roblox changes make many of those instructions stale.

If you already use Bloxstrap, do not assume that a missing frame-rate preset means your installation is broken. Roblox’s own client changes may have removed the relevant control. For a new installation, the official Roblox client and its built-in Windows frame-rate option are the lower-risk route.

Higher FPS does not automatically mean smoother Roblox
There are several separate limits between an FPS setting and what you actually see:
- Client rendering: Your CPU, GPU, memory, temperatures, drivers, and the individual Roblox experience determine how quickly frames can be rendered.
- Display refresh rate: A 60 Hz monitor cannot show 120 or 240 separate refreshes per second. To visibly benefit from higher client FPS, use a display that supports a corresponding refresh rate, such as 120 Hz, 144 Hz, or 240 Hz.
- VSync and driver limits: VSync, NVIDIA Control Panel’s Max Frame Rate setting, or another frame limiter can keep the displayed or rendered rate near 60 even when Roblox is configured higher.
- Power management: A laptop running on battery or in a quiet/balanced mode may reduce CPU and GPU performance. Plugging in the charger and selecting the manufacturer’s performance mode can make a larger difference than an unlocker.
- Experience workload: A demanding map, large player count, scripts, lighting, or effects can make the actual client FPS fall below the selected maximum.
- Server simulation: Roblox performance documentation distinguishes client computation from server heartbeat. A higher rendering FPS does not make the server simulate the experience at the same rate.
For a visible hardware upgrade, a 240Hz gaming monitor can make sense for a computer that genuinely renders well above 60 FPS. The monitor cannot increase Roblox’s rendered FPS by itself; it only gives the system a way to display more of the frames it produces. Check the monitor’s resolution, connection requirements, adaptive-sync support, and your computer’s performance before buying. Availability and specifications vary by region. This is a shopping recommendation, not a requirement for using Roblox.
Fix a 60 FPS cap without an unlocker
- Set Roblox’s maximum frame rate. In the Roblox in-game menu, open Settings and choose the highest available Maximum Frame Rate value, up to 240 FPS on supported Windows clients.
- Measure instead of guessing. Press Shift+F5 and watch the client FPS while standing in the same area of the experience. Test more than one experience because performance is not uniform across Roblox.
- Check the monitor in Windows. In Windows 11, open Settings > System > Display > Advanced display and confirm that the display is set to its intended refresh rate. If the monitor is configured for 60 Hz, a higher Roblox number will not produce a 120 Hz or 240 Hz viewing experience.
- Check VSync and GPU limits. Look for VSync in the game or graphics settings and check the NVIDIA Control Panel’s per-game Max Frame Rate setting if you use an NVIDIA GPU. A driver-level 60 FPS limit can override what you select in Roblox.
- Use the correct laptop power mode. Plug in the laptop, select a performance-oriented Windows or manufacturer power profile, and make sure Roblox is using the intended GPU where the system offers both integrated and dedicated graphics.
- Reduce background load. Close unnecessary browsers, recording tools, overlays, launchers, and other resource-heavy programs. Compare the FPS counter before and after each change so you know which adjustment helped.
- Troubleshoot instability before adding software. If Roblox crashes, freezes, or reports that a process was suspended, remove third-party Roblox utilities and test the official client. Roblox recommends closing conflicting software and, when necessary, performing a Windows clean boot to identify interference.
Bloxstrap’s troubleshooting documentation also identifies exclusive fullscreen or VSync behavior, laptop power controls, and NVIDIA Control Panel limits as common reasons Roblox remains at 60 FPS after a higher limit is selected. Use its 60 FPS troubleshooting page as background for those checks, not as proof that its older unlocking controls still work.

If Roblox flags or crashes after using a third-party utility
- Close Roblox and exit the utility completely.
- Uninstall or remove the third-party Roblox modification rather than repeatedly trying different launch options.
- Restart Windows and install the official Roblox client from Roblox.com or an official app store.
- Run a security scan if you used a mirror, repack, unknown executable, or file that behaved unexpectedly.
- If the issue continues, perform a Windows clean boot as Roblox support recommends for identifying third-party interference, then restore services systematically.
Do not respond to an anti-cheat warning by downloading another “bypass” or by entering account credentials into a troubleshooting tool. A clean official installation is the appropriate recovery path.

Should you download Roblox FPS Unlocker in 2026?
For most players, no. Use Roblox’s native Windows maximum-frame-rate setting, verify the result with Shift+F5, and resolve display, VSync, power, hardware, and background-process limits first.
