A visible image points you toward its source resolution and how the UI scales it; a missing image calls for checking its load state and availability. There is no single documented fix for every experience, because the cause can be specific to an asset, layout, or device.
First identify what is wrong
Check whether the problem affects one image, every image in one experience, or UI across multiple experiences. Also distinguish a missing image from one that appears but looks soft, jagged, or stretched. These clues help narrow down the cause: Roblox’s creator documentation describes image-loading and rendering properties, but it cannot identify the cause in a particular game.
- Image missing: it may not have finished loading or may be unavailable.
- Image visible but blurry or pixelated: check the source image, displayed size, and resampling behavior.
- Image visibly distorted or cropped: check how the UI element’s shape and ScaleType affect the image.
If the problem is confined to one experience, its creator may need to correct an asset or layout. Players generally cannot change an experience’s ImageLabel settings themselves.
If an image is missing, check loading and availability
For creators diagnosing an ImageLabel, Roblox’s ImageLabel reference documents the IsLoaded property, which indicates whether the image has finished loading. Roblox also states that images declined by moderation do not load. A scaling change will not fix an image that is unavailable or has not loaded.

For players, note whether the image eventually appears and whether other images in the same experience load. If a particular image remains absent, report the experience and affected asset to its creator; the documented creator-side checks do not establish a universal player-side repair.
If an image is visible but blurry, compare source and display size
Roblox says an ImageLabel automatically scales its image to fit its rectangle and that “the image looks best when it displays at its native resolution” (Roblox Creator Hub, Text & image labels). If the UI draws an image substantially larger than its source, scaling is a plausible reason it looks soft, though it is not a guaranteed explanation for every case.

Creators should compare the source image dimensions with the ImageLabel’s rendered dimensions on the affected phone or tablet. An image made for a small icon may lose clarity when enlarged; using a source appropriate to the intended display size is a more direct fix than changing unrelated device settings.
Check ScaleType when the image is stretched or cropped
The ImageLabel’s ScaleType determines how its image fits the UI rectangle. Choose according to whether preserving the entire image, filling the area, or retaining a designed border matters:

These behaviors are described in Roblox’s ScaleType enum reference and ImageLabel reference. If proportions look wrong, check whether the element’s aspect ratio differs from the source and whether Stretch is changing the image’s shape.
Choose resampling for the art style
Roblox documents smoothing as the default behavior when an image is rendered at a size different from its texture-memory size. For pixel art intended to retain crisp edges, a creator can set ResampleMode to Pixelated. Roblox’s ImageLabel reference says that in this mode, “the image preserves the sharp edges of pixels.”

Pixelated resampling preserves the source’s pixel edges; it does not add detail to a low-resolution image. Use it when hard pixel boundaries are intentional. Smoothing is generally more suitable for ordinary artwork, where softened transitions are desired. Roblox documents the same Pixelated behavior for ImageButton.

A GUI that looks correct in a larger preview may not fit a smaller screen as intended. Roblox’s interactive UI tutorial notes that phones and tablets have less screen space and that UI should fit smaller screens and remain clearly visible. Test the experience at phone and tablet layouts, paying attention to image dimensions, cropping, and whether key elements remain legible.

Device resources can also affect texture quality: Roblox says texture quality can ramp up from lower-quality versions based on device resources in its texture specifications. This is a general constraint, not proof that device resources caused a particular player’s blurry GUI. The documented maximum texture resolution is 4096 × 4096 pixels; that ceiling is not a recommended size for every UI image.
For players, if the same issue appears across several experiences, record which devices and images are affected and whether the images are missing or merely soft. That information helps distinguish a broader rendering symptom from an individual experience’s asset or layout, but the available documentation does not establish a universal client-side setting that resolves all such reports.
