A cupcake costume took its place while the hotdog was absent; the hotdog returned on November 23 with customization restrictions, according to the game’s fan-maintained item history.
Why the hotdog costume was removed
The issue was how players were styling the costume, not a permanent removal of the item. PC Gamer reported that players recolored the hotdog and used accessories to create phallic-looking outfits. The developer notice reproduced in a fan-maintained changelog gave the broader reason as “inappropriate usage”; the specific description of phallic-looking outfits comes from PC Gamer, not that notice.
The changelog reproduces this wording under an October 24, 2024 update entry: “Temporarily removed hotdog costume due to inappropriate usage. It will return soon with restrictions.” Because the notice is reproduced on a fan-maintained page rather than an original developer archive, its wording should be attributed to that changelog. Read the changelog. PC Gamer also reported that Studiozac had acknowledged misuse of the costume. Read PC Gamer’s report.
