Roblox Moments lets eligible players record short gameplay clips, edit and post them in Roblox, then watch clips and join the experiences featured in them. To post, join the Moments experience, open Captures with the + button, choose a video, edit it and select Post. Access and features depend on your region and age.
How to capture a clip in a Roblox experience
- Open the in-experience menu in the upper-left corner and select Captures.
- Use the capture icon shown in the experience. Choose the screenshot option for a still image, or start recording for a video of up to 30 seconds.
- For video, watch for the recording indicator; tap the capture icon again when you are ready to stop.
Your capture is saved to the Captures gallery. Video capture is supported on desktop and mobile, but an experience creator can disable player capture, so the tool will not work in every experience. You can also enable or disable capture in the in-experience controls. Roblox’s video-capture help explains the recording feature.
How to edit and post a Moment
- Search for and join the Roblox Moments experience.
- Select the + button at the top right to open your Captures gallery.
- Choose a video, then trim it, add music and write a description.
- Select Post. Roblox says players can post up to 10 videos per day; remain in Moments until the app confirms publication.
The in-app editor works with captures in your Roblox gallery. Roblox’s documented player workflow does not support uploading externally edited video files. Music is available through a DistroKid partnership, but Roblox does not say you need a DistroKid account to use the editor. See Roblox’s Moments help guide for the posting workflow.
How to discover experiences through Moments
Moments presents a gallery of player-made gameplay videos. Viewers can react to a clip and select Join to enter its featured experience. A Moment published from an experience is eligible to appear on that experience’s content surfaces; it is not necessarily distributed across Roblox as a whole.

Roblox’s September 11, 2026 announcement describes the Moments tab as a place to watch gameplay videos and click through to play, and says the tab is fully available in the United States. The announcement also says features and availability vary by age and region, so the app’s current display is the best guide to what is available to your account. Who can use Moments?
Availability is limited to select regions. Roblox’s current Safety FAQs say that in most regions where Moments is available, access is limited to users aged 16 or older who have completed an age check. This is not a universal age rule: access depends on region and account eligibility. At launch in 2025, Roblox described Moments as Moderate maturity and playable by users aged 13 or older; that launch-era description should not be treated as the current access rule everywhere. What to know about privacy, moderation and failed posts
- What appears in a capture: Roblox says in-experience UI and usernames shown above avatars are removed from video captures. Voice chat and other in-experience sounds are not recorded, according to its video-capture guidance.
- Moderation: Published Moments are moderated, and users can report content they consider inappropriate.
- Rejected posts: Roblox says you receive a brief notification; a placeholder may also appear in My Content.
- Upload failures: Retry the post. If it continues to fail, check your internet connection and make sure the Roblox app is up to date.

Roblox’s September 2025 product announcement introduced the Captures API, Upload API, Recommendation API and Moments source code as tools for developers exploring in-experience capture and discovery. Examples included highlight reels, achievement captures, racing clips and avatar-fashion showcases. That announcement is historical; check current Creator Hub documentation for present availability and implementation details before building around a particular API. Roblox reported more than 930 million screenshots captured from July 24 to August 24, 2025, and more than 240 million videos captured in experiences since video capture launched in July, also for July 24–August 24, 2025.
