Roblox announced Party on December 2, 2024 as a way for friends to group up, enter the same experience server, and move together between experiences. For creators, the announcement described a planned Party API that could help tailor gameplay to group membership. The platform, age, voice, and API details below reflect Roblox’s statements through March 10, 2025; they do not establish the feature’s current availability.
What is Roblox Party?
Party was presented as a social feature for coordinating play across Roblox experiences. Roblox said users could group with up to six friends, then travel together into an experience and continue to another one. The announcement pitched easier co-play as a possible way to increase engagement and create more opportunities to earn on Roblox.
Roblox cited its own data that, as of June 30, 2024, users playing with friends had average sessions 1.9 times longer than users playing solo. The announcement did not provide the measurement method, sample size, or uncertainty, so this is Roblox-reported context—not an independently verified result or a promise that a particular experience will see longer sessions. How did players join a Roblox game with friends?
Creating or joining a Party did not automatically send anyone into an experience. Roblox said users had to accept an invitation before being moved into an experience with the group. In a staff reply to the announcement, Roblox said users who accepted would be placed in the same server. A friend joining later could enter that server only if it had room. What platforms and age rules did Roblox describe?
In its December 2024 rollout description, Roblox said Party was rolling out globally on desktop, iOS, and Android, and was not then available on console or VR devices. Its FAQ said users under 13 could create or join a Party but could not use Party chat. Users aged 13 or older could use text Party chat at that time. Voice support was described as forthcoming in a few countries. These are historical rollout statements, not confirmation of present-day platform support or eligibility. Roblox’s announcement FAQ

How could developers use the Party API?
Roblox described a Party API as planned for early 2025. The stated purpose was to provide information about which users were in a Party together, allowing creators to make group play feel coordinated inside an experience. The announcement offered examples rather than confirming implementations:
- Give Party members matching visual treatment.
- Place Party members on the same team.
- Teleport them together to a later level or another world.
The announcement does not establish whether the API subsequently launched or whether it remains available as described.

Make room for Roblox’s experience controls
For creator interface layout, the FAQ recommended the TopbarSafeInsets API and signal API to help align custom UI with space reserved for Roblox experience controls. These are software APIs, not hardware or purchasable products. Roblox’s announcement FAQ

A March 10, 2025 update said Roblox was testing Party voice chat with a small audience of eligible users aged 18 or older who had verified their phone numbers, in select countries. Roblox planned to make voice broadly available to users aged 13 or older later in 2025. That was a dated plan, not confirmation that broad rollout occurred. The available statements here do not settle current voice eligibility, platform support, or Party API status. Roblox’s updated announcement
