What happened on RTX 5070 launch day?
On March 5, 2025, NVIDIA announced that the GeForce RTX 5070 was “out now.” In the same post, it said stock-clocked and factory-overclocked partner models were available, then added: “The limited Founders Edition design of the GeForce RTX 5070 will be available later in March.” NVIDIA’s launch announcement therefore distinguished the wider card launch from the availability of NVIDIA’s own Founders Edition.

When was the Founders Edition supposed to arrive?
NVIDIA’s stated window was later in March 2025. It did not identify a specific day or give a reason for the later availability in its March 5 announcement. A contemporaneous Tom’s Hardware report dated March 4 also described the Founders Edition as unavailable on launch day and expected later in the month.

Which RTX 5070 cards were available on launch day?
NVIDIA said stock-clocked and factory-overclocked partner cards were available on March 5, naming add-in-card makers in its announcement. So the Founders Edition’s delay did not mean that the entire RTX 5070 product family had been postponed. Partner cards are separate models from NVIDIA’s Founders Edition; their specific designs, availability, and prices depend on the card and retailer.

How does the February date and $549 figure fit in?
In its January 6, 2025 announcement, NVIDIA said desktop RTX 5070 availability would start in February and listed a $549 starting price. These were advance launch details, not a current price or a verified Founders Edition transaction price. The later March 5 announcement supplied the launch-day status and the separate timing window for the Founders Edition. NVIDIA’s January announcement
What can you conclude if you are shopping now?
The 2025 launch announcements establish the original timing distinction, not present-day stock, regional availability, or retailer pricing. NVIDIA maintains an official GeForce RTX 5070 Founders Edition product page, but the page alone does not establish whether a card is currently in stock or what it costs. For a purchase today, check a retailer’s listing for the exact model, price, and availability.
