Both have 16 GB of GDDR7 in NVIDIA’s cited product material, so compare the exact cards’ current prices, your games and settings, and each model’s fit and power requirements—not just the GPU names.
RTX 5080 vs RTX 5070 Ti at a glance
| Comparison | RTX 5080 | RTX 5070 Ti |
|---|---|---|
| Position in NVIDIA lineup | Above the RTX 5070 Ti, according to NVIDIA’s displayed GeForce 50-series lineup (NVIDIA). | Below the RTX 5080 in NVIDIA’s displayed lineup (NVIDIA). |
| Launch price | $999, announced by NVIDIA in 2025; historical launch price, not a current quote (NVIDIA). | $749, announced by NVIDIA in 2025; historical launch price, not a current quote (NVIDIA). |
| Memory | 16 GB GDDR7 in the NVIDIA product material cited for this comparison (NVIDIA). | 16 GB GDDR7 (NVIDIA). |
| RTX 5070 Ti reference specifications | Not stated in the cited reference-specification page for this comparison; check the exact board maker’s specifications. | 8,960 CUDA cores; 256-bit memory interface; 300 W total graphics power; 750 W recommended system power. Those figures are not a substitute for comparing two specific partner cards. Board dimensions, connectors, cooling and power guidance can differ by model.
How much more does the RTX 5080 cost?
NVIDIA announced launch prices of $999 for the RTX 5080 and $749 for the RTX 5070 Ti in 2025, a $250 gap at launch (NVIDIA). That historical gap is useful context, but it does not tell you what either card costs now.
Retail observations reported in October 2026 were substantially higher and differed by source and measure. PC Gamer’s October 1 tracker listed Amazon offers near $1,653.47 for an RTX 5080 and $1,185 for an RTX 5070 Ti; these were dated listings, not guaranteed current prices (PC Gamer). Tom’s Hardware separately reported a $1,099 median street price for the RTX 5070 Ti in its October 2026 guide, against its $749 launch MSRP (Tom’s Hardware). These are different kinds of price observations, not interchangeable live quotes.

#1 Best Overall
- Powered by the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture and DLSS 4. System Requirements: Minimum 850W PSU with 16-pin 12V-2x6 (12VHPWR) connector required. Verify before purchasing. OC mode: 2685 MHz/ Default mode: 2655 MHz (Boost Clock)
- SFF-Ready enthusiast GeForce card compatible with small-form-factor builds
- Axial-tech fans feature a smaller fan hub that facilitates longer blades and a barrier ring that increases downward air pressure
- Vapor chamber ensures efficient heat transfer for lower GPU temps
- Phase-change GPU thermal pad helps ensure optimal heat transfer, lowering GPU temperatures for enhanced performance and reliability
Before choosing, compare same-day prices for the specific partner-card versions you would actually buy. The RTX 5070 Ti’s value case is clearest when its price is materially lower; if the gap narrows, the 5080’s higher place in NVIDIA’s lineup may make paying extra more reasonable. Neither launch MSRP nor an older retailer listing guarantees stock or a price today.
What the performance evidence does—and does not—show
NVIDIA’s product lineup ranks the RTX 5080 above the RTX 5070 Ti. Its illustrative comparison, however, uses 4K max settings with DLSS Super Resolution and Ray Reconstruction; it also uses frame generation on 40-series models and Multi Frame Generation in 4X mode on 50-series models (NVIDIA). That comparison describes performance with those features and conditions enabled. It is not, by itself, a native-rendering benchmark or proof of a general uplift across games.

- Military-grade components deliver rock-solid power and longer lifespan for ultimate durability. Compatibility: 348mm (13.7") length, 3.6 slots, 4.3 lbs. Confirm case clearance and slot spacing. GPU bracket included.
- Protective PCB coating helps protect against short circuits caused by moisture, dust, or debris
- 3.6-slot design with massive fin array optimized for airflow from three Axial-tech fans
- Phase-change GPU thermal pad helps ensure optimal thermal performance and longevity, outlasting traditional thermal paste for graphics cards under heavy loads
Upscaling and frame generation affect what the displayed image or frame-rate counter represents: they are not the same thing as rendering every frame natively. If you care about native performance, compare benchmarks that report native results separately from DLSS and frame-generation results. The available sources do not establish a reliable universal gaming-performance percentage for these two cards across a representative game suite.
For a useful benchmark comparison, look for the games you play and check the resolution, graphics settings, driver version, and whether upscaling or frame generation is enabled. A result from one game or feature setting should not be generalized to every game.

Which card makes sense for your games and display?
Choose the RTX 5070 Ti when the price gap matters most
- You can buy a specific RTX 5070 Ti substantially below a comparable RTX 5080.
- Your decision is based on the games and settings you actually use, rather than an assumption that the higher model always offers better value.
- You have checked that the particular card fits your case and works with your power supply.
Consider the RTX 5080 when its premium is justified for you
- You want the higher-positioned model in NVIDIA’s lineup and accept its actual price premium.
- You have compared relevant game benchmarks at your target resolution and settings, with native and feature-assisted results clearly distinguished.
- The exact RTX 5080 board’s dimensions, power requirements and connector suit your system.
Resolution, refresh rate and game mix matter to the decision, but the cited evidence does not establish a universal threshold—such as one resolution at which the 5080 is always worth its premium. Use current, game-specific results and prices rather than treating a model name as a guarantee.
Check the exact card before buying
Both GPUs are sold on partner boards, and NVIDIA notes that add-in-card specifications can vary. A GPU name alone cannot tell you whether a particular card fits your build.

- Powered by the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture and DLSS 4. System Requirements: Minimum 850W PSU with 16-pin 12V-2x6 (12VHPWR) connector required. Verify before purchasing.
- Quad-fan design boosts air flow and pressure by up to 20%. Compatibility: 357mm (14.1") length, 3.8 slots, 6.3 lbs. Confirm case clearance and slot spacing. GPU bracket included.
- Patented vapor chamber with milled heatspreader for lower GPU temperatures OC mode: 2790 MHz/ Default mode: 2760 MHz (Boost Clock)
- Phase-change GPU thermal pad ensures optimal heat transfer, lowering GPU temperatures for enhanced performance and reliability
- 3.8-slot design: massive heatsink and fin array optimized for airflow from the four Axial-tech fans
- Dimensions: check the card’s listed length and thickness against the space in your case.
- Power: confirm the card maker’s recommended system power and the power supply’s capacity and available connectors. NVIDIA’s reference RTX 5070 Ti page lists 750 W recommended system power based on a specified test PC; follow the exact board’s guidance for your build.
- Cooling and clearance: check the partner card’s cooler and whether nearby components or case layout leave sufficient room.
- Return terms: review the retailer’s return policy before ordering, particularly when fit or compatibility is uncertain.
Verdict: choose by the real price and the exact board
The RTX 5070 Ti is the more compelling value when its real selling price is meaningfully below the RTX 5080. The 5080 is the higher model, but the sources cited here do not establish a single reliable gaming-performance gap that makes its premium worthwhile for every player. Compare current prices for specific cards, consult benchmarks that match your games and settings, and verify fit and power before buying.
