You can keep a Hindi video playlist streaming to YouTube while your own computer is off by storing the videos on a Contabo VPS and running an encoder there. The setup is not a YouTube playlist feature: it is a continuously running encoder process that sends video to YouTube Live using your stream URL and stream key. You must confirm your channel is eligible, choose an encoder and VPS plan that can sustain the stream, and monitor it after launch.
How the setup works
The basic chain is: Hindi video files on the VPS → encoder process → YouTube Live ingest endpoint. The encoder reads and repeats the videos or playlist you configure, then sends the resulting feed to YouTube. YouTube’s setup guide explains that an encoder connects with a server URL and stream key; it does not establish a built-in playlist-to-continuous-stream feature. See YouTube’s encoder setup guide.
This is a do-it-yourself server workflow. The available official sources do not validate a particular playlist application, installation script, or Contabo-specific configuration, so select software that can play a local playlist, loop it, and publish a live encoder feed before building the rest of the setup around it.
Check YouTube Live access first
Before choosing a VPS or uploading files, verify that your channel can go live. YouTube’s encoder setup guidance says the channel must be verified and must not have live-stream restrictions in the preceding 90 days. Enabling live streaming for the first time may take up to 24 hours, so do not leave activation until launch day. See YouTube’s current encoder setup requirements.

- Open YouTube Studio and confirm the channel’s verification and live-stream eligibility.
- Create or select a live stream in YouTube Studio and retrieve its server URL and stream key.
- Enter those credentials in the encoder running on your VPS. YouTube’s instructions say to enter the live server URL and stream key into the encoder.
Treat the stream key like a password. Keep it out of screenshots, public scripts, shared configuration files, and logs; anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to your stream. If it is exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder with the new key.
Choose an encoder configuration
YouTube supports software and hardware encoder workflows. For a VPS-based playlist, the relevant category is software encoding: the server needs to read the media, encode or pass it through as configured, and maintain a stable connection to YouTube. YouTube recommends RTMPS, the secure extension to RTMP, for ingest. Use RTMPS where your encoder supports it. See YouTube’s encoder settings and bitrate guidance.

1080p30 H.264 example
For H.264 at 1080p and 30 frames per second, YouTube’s cited guidance lists 5 Mbps as the minimum ingest bitrate and 14 Mbps as recommended. These are YouTube encoding recommendations, not a guarantee that a particular Contabo plan will deliver that sustained outgoing throughput. YouTube also recommends a two-second keyframe interval and constant bitrate encoding where applicable. Use the exact settings your chosen encoder exposes, and verify them in a test stream.
- Protocol: RTMPS.
- Video codec and example: H.264, 1080p30.
- Bitrate for that example: 5 Mbps minimum; 14 Mbps recommended by YouTube.
- Keyframe interval: two seconds, per YouTube guidance.
- Rate control: constant bitrate where applicable.
Different resolutions, frame rates, codecs, and encoders have different requirements. Do not assume this example is appropriate for every playlist or that a higher setting will work just because a VPS plan advertises a port speed. Consult the encoder’s own documentation for how to select files, loop playback, and reconnect after a process or network interruption; the cited sources do not prescribe those application-specific steps.

Match the VPS to a continuous outbound stream
A 24/7 feed is sustained outgoing traffic, not an occasional upload. Contabo’s documentation says port speed varies by plan and describes traffic use under a fair-usage policy. Its support guidance says exceptionally high or disruptive usage may result in throttling. Check the current specifications and terms for the exact plan you intend to rent rather than treating a traffic allowance or “unlimited” description as a promise of full port speed indefinitely. See Contabo’s VPS port-speed documentation and Contabo’s traffic-limit and fair-usage guidance.
- Compare the plan’s listed port speed and CPU, memory, and storage allocation against the encoder and media workload you intend to run.
- Estimate sustained outbound use from the actual stream bitrate, then monitor outgoing traffic after going live.
- Test CPU and memory use with your chosen encoder and playlist; no specific Contabo CPU or RAM minimum is established for this exact workload.
- Keep enough storage for the media files and any operational logs you need, while protecting the stream key.
A plan’s advertised port speed is not a measured performance result for your stream. Run a test under the same resolution, frame rate, bitrate, and playlist load you plan to use continuously, then check both the YouTube stream health and server behavior.

Test before making the playlist continuous
- Start the encoder with a short representative segment or test playlist and confirm that it reaches YouTube Live.
- Check the preview in YouTube Live Control Room and verify the picture, audio, and stream health before making the broadcast public.
- Let the test run long enough to notice unstable network delivery, encoder overload, or playback problems, then review the VPS’s resource use and outgoing traffic.
- Only after the test is stable, configure the playlist to repeat and monitor the live session after launch.
YouTube’s encoder guidance says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. The cited guidance does not resolve archive handling for a continuous stream beyond that duration. For a 24/7 channel, verify current YouTube behavior for session restarts and archives rather than assuming one encoder session will run indefinitely or produce a single 24-hour archive. See YouTube’s encoder setup guidance.

A stable technical feed does not establish that you have permission to broadcast the videos. Before scheduling a playlist, make sure you have the necessary rights to every video, music track, and other included material, and check YouTube’s current copyright and live-stream policies. A playlist assembled from Hindi songs, devotional recordings, films, or other third-party media is not automatically safe to stream because it is publicly available online. YouTube’s cited encoder and ingest documentation does not determine the rights status of particular content.

Troubleshoot common failures
- You cannot start a live stream: verify channel eligibility and verification in YouTube Studio. If live streaming was enabled for the first time recently, allow up to 24 hours for activation.
- YouTube does not receive the feed: check that the encoder has the correct server URL and current stream key, and that it is configured to use RTMPS where supported. Keep the key private; replace it if exposed.
- The stream is unstable or shows health warnings: test the encoder at the chosen resolution and bitrate, check server CPU and network behavior, and compare sustained traffic against the Contabo plan’s current port speed and fair-usage terms. A recommended bitrate is not a throughput guarantee.
- The stream ends or the archive is unexpected: inspect encoder and YouTube session status. The cited YouTube guidance confirms automatic archives for streams under 12 hours, but not the outcome for a continuous session beyond that duration.
- The stream is live but content triggers a claim or restriction: review rights for each playlist item and YouTube’s current policies; technical encoder settings cannot grant permission to use copyrighted material.
